Job description

Who we are:
Prolific Supply LLC is a scaled manufacturer and distributor of consumable growing materials, and a food and ingredients supply-chain platform. Prolific Supply became the parent company formed through the acquisitions of Hawthorne Garden Company (HGC) and Bridgewell Agribusiness (BWAB).
We take pride in being one of the most diverse and inclusive workplaces in cannabis, fostering a culture where everyone belongs. Through employee engagement, community events, and non-profit partnerships, we’re building more than a business—we’re building a community.
As we rapidly expand nationwide, we’re looking for talented, driven, and passionate people to join us. If you’re ready to turn your passion into a career, let’s grow the future together.
What the role is about:

Prolific Supply is seeking an experienced, highly analytical Director of Freight & Logistics to lead freight strategy and transportation optimization across our portfolio of operating companies, including Hawthorne Gardening, Bridgewell, and future acquisition platforms.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will develop an integrated freight and logistics strategy designed to reduce total landed and transportation costs while maintaining or improving customer service and operating excellence. This is a hands-on transformation and value-creation role: the Director will evaluate the existing freight network, contracts, carriers, 3PL relationships, distribution points, systems, and transportation practices, and build a more efficient enterprise-wide model capable of supporting both current operations and future acquisitions.

Success will be measured through service performance, freight productivity, cost reduction, working-capital efficiency, and measurable EBITDA contribution.
What impact you’ll make:

Enterprise Freight Strategy

  • Develop and execute an integrated freight and transportation strategy across Hawthorne Gardening, Bridgewell, and future Prolific Supply acquisitions
  • Identify opportunities to combine freight volumes, carriers, routes, distribution points, and transportation contracts across operating companies
  • Establish an enterprise approach to inbound and outbound freight management
  • Evaluate the total transportation network rather than managing individual freight movements in isolation
  • Develop scalable logistics processes capable of supporting future acquisitions

Freight Cost Reduction & EBITDA Creation

  • Establish a comprehensive baseline of enterprise freight spend
  • Identify immediate and long-term opportunities to reduce transportation and logistics costs
  • Quantify each major initiative in terms of expected annual savings and EBITDA contribution
  • Track forecasted versus realized savings, partnering with Finance to ensure results are measurable
  • Maintain freight-cost reduction without compromising customer service, delivery reliability, or operating excellence

Carrier, 3PL & Contract Negotiation

  • Review existing carrier, broker, 3PL, rail, ocean-freight, drayage, and related transportation agreements
  • Lead negotiations and competitive bidding processes across major freight and supplier categories
  • Consolidate enterprise purchasing power where economically advantageous
  • Develop carrier scorecards and contractual service expectations
  • Continuously evaluate market pricing, capacity, service levels, and alternative providers

Multi-Modal Transportation Management (Truck & Rail)

  • Truck: full truckload, less-than-truckload, dedicated transportation, 3PL/brokerage, intermodal opportunities, and direct-to-customer/DC deliveries
  • Rail: railcar utilization and economics, rail routing and scheduling, demurrage reduction, and rail-versus-truck economics
  • Ocean & Container: overseas container movement, East/West Coast port strategy, drayage, container utilization, and demurrage/detention reduction

International Supply Chain

  • Own import transportation efficiency and overseas container movement strategy
  • Manage port and terminal costs and inland drayage across coastal gateways
  • Build enterprise visibility into cross-border and international freight flows to support future global sourcing

Distribution Network Optimization

  • Evaluate the current national distribution footprint across Prolific Supply
  • Identify shared distribution locations supporting multiple operating companies
  • Analyze cross-docking, shipment consolidation, and pooling opportunities
  • Support future facility and distribution-network decisions using quantitative freight and service-level analysis

Technology & Systems Integration

  • Support migration toward a unified warehouse management system and enterprise ERP integration
  • Define freight and transportation data requirements and evaluate TMS capabilities
  • Use technology and data to improve routing, visibility, carrier management, and forecasting

KPI & Performance Management

  • Establish a standardized enterprise freight scorecard: total freight spend, cost per shipment, on-time performance, carrier service, utilization, detention/demurrage, claims, and cost savings versus baseline
  • Provide management with clear visibility into cost, service, trends, exceptions, and financial impact

M&A Integration

  • Assess acquired-company freight networks and contracts, and identify immediate transportation synergies
  • Consolidate carrier and 3PL relationships where appropriate and evaluate distribution-network overlap
  • Quantify integration savings and EBITDA opportunities with clear implementation timelines

What you've accomplished:

  • Significant transportation, freight, logistics, distribution, or supply-chain leadership experience in large-scale distribution and/or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience negotiating fees and contracts with carriers, 3PLs, and suppliers, including competitive bidding across major freight categories
  • Hands-on expertise across multi-modal freight management, including truckload, LTL, rail, intermodal, and international/ocean container transportation
  • Experience managing an international or cross-border supply chain, including port strategy, drayage, and import transportation
  • Track record in distribution-network optimization and freight procurement/contract management
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, and transportation-management technology, including systems conversion and integration
  • Experience operating across multi-company or multi-location organizations, including M&A integration
  • A sophisticated, data-driven negotiator who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and communicates effectively across operations, sales, supply chain, finance, and executive leadership

What we offer:

  • Compensation: $130,000-140,000 annually depending on experience
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance on the first of the month after you begin employment
  • Competitive additional benefits including HSA, FSA, Dependable Care, EAP services, etc.
  • 18 Days of accrued PTO in addition to 2 Wellness Days & Volunteer Hours that will increase with tenure
  • 401k program with an employer match after six months of employment
