Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.**Requirements****Job Overview** The **Director of Engineering Services, University Services/Planning and Facilities Management/Office of Engineering and Utilities - Georgetown University** is a critical management role within the Office of Engineering and Utilities essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation and design of all engineering systems that form the infrastructure of Georgetown University’s world-class educational environment. The Director manages a team involved in the design and engineering stewardship for the campus and a team responsible for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of Fire Protection systems on the Hilltop campus. The Director identifies and sets corrective action courses for system deficiencies, increasing efficiency and safety, and completing infrastructure projects. They supervise the preparation and review designs and studies, maintain relationships with internal and external partners, maintain the university’s engineering design standards, and provide significant input on the Deferred Maintenance priorities and budget allocation.**Duties include but are not limited to:*** Direct a team of engineers to execute and/or review designs and studies.* Direct the Fire Protection Manager in the inspection, testing, maintenance, and modifications of fire/life safety equipment throughout university facilities.* Lead cross-functional teams to solve complex facilities related issues.* Implement systems and processes to improve efficiency, reduce risk and costs, and prevent.* Contribute to the alignment and development of projects and plans across multiple programs such as deferred maintenance, energy and utilities, housing, and other capital improvements.* Manage, develop, and support master service agreements for engineering and fire protection related services.* Represent the University’s interests with consultants, senior administrators, local officials, faculty, and others as needed.**Work Interactions**This position reports to the Executive Director of Engineering and Utilities and supervises the Fire Protection Manager, who oversees a team of four technicians, and multiple engineers with specialties such as electrical, mechanical, and fire protection. The position will frequently collaborate within the Engineering and Utilities team on Deferred Maintenance, Energy, and Utilities matters. The position works directly with members of Facilities Operations, Capital Projects and Planning, Public Safety, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Auxiliary Services and Real Estate, and University Information Services. The position has a significant role in managing vendors and contractors, including selection, feedback, and scoping.**Requirements and Qualifications****Requirements:*** Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field from an accredited program.* Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in engineering, construction, facilities management, or a related field.* Minimum 3 years of team management.* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.* Professional knowledge of required and best practice building codes, standards, other related guidance* Familiar with CADD, CMMS, project software and various other programs that serve to continually improve service and delivery processes.* Proven track record of success in supporting complex building and utility systems.* Strong understanding of sustainable building practices.* Experience with building electrical and mechanical systems, building automation systems, and fire protection systems.* Excellent budget management skills.* Competent at using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint or Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides.**Preferred:*** Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.* Professional Engineer license.* Additional certifications relevant to the roles such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), LEED Accreditation, etc.**Work Mode Designation**This position has been designated as Hybrid.
