Job description

Description and Responsibilities:


My client is seeking a Director of Operations for their 500K+ sq ft distribution center. This facility employs 400-ish associates and runs two shifts Sunday through Friday. In this role, we need a leader who can focus on setting expectations, holding leaders accountable, and building a people focused culture. The hired candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Leading a management team ultimately responsible for all inbound, processing, and outbound operations.
  • Being responsible for training, developing, mentoring, guiding all facets of the leadership team.
  • Meeting or exceeding building KPM’s.
  • Planning and managing budgets to include labor, CapX, and transportation.
  • Being a cultural leader for the company’s values and mission.
  • Promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Finding and leading lean continuous improvement projects throughout the distribution center.
  • Maintaining relationships with stores, IT, inventory, and all other cross-functional departments.


Qualifications:


The qualified candidate will possess most of the following traits:

  • 10+ years of experience in leading leaders in a distribution and/or fulfillment center.
  • A bachelor's and, preferably, a master's degree.
  • Managing a full P/L for a high-volume DC/FC of at least $15M.
  • A demonstrated history of continuous and process improvement accomplishments.
  • A solid history of developing other leaders to a promotional level.
  • Working knowledge of systems such as WMS, TMS, and excel.
  • Former project management experience in the realm of implementations, start-ups, training on new material handling equipment.
