Job description

Field Manager & Director of Baseball Operations
Great Falls Voyagers - Pioneer Baseball League (MLB Partner League)
Full-time, salaried. Great Falls, Montana. Start date: October 1, 2026
THE ROLE
Oversee all baseball operations for The Great Falls Voyagers. Help lead this historic franchise by building an elite pipeline for Independent Baseball talent to create a positive winning environment in the clubhouse while providing players the opportunity to sign with MLB organizations and advance their careers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
On-field. You will be the Field Manager. This role will be responsible for setting the standard for how the Voyagers practice, play, travel, and carry themselves, and you will run daily planning, game preparation, and make important in-game decisions.
Roster construction. With the team President and coaching staff, you own player personnel decisions: who we sign, keep, and release.
Pitching. This is a crucial priority. We've paired strong offenses with pitching that hasn't held up over a full season. Bring a specific philosophy on staff construction, workload management, arm development at altitude, and build the structure to execute it.
Player development. Every player will receive a Development plan, you will host regular one-on-ones, and provide honest reads on where players stand. If a player isn't going to get a real opportunity, we need to tell him early.
Staff. You will hire, manage, and evaluate all baseball personnel for the Voyagers: Assistant Coaches and the Analytics Staff. You'll build the staff you want and answer for how it performs. You also oversee Athletic Training and player health protocols.
Analytics. The Director of Analytics will report to you. You'll set priorities and apply the work to acquisition, lineup construction, pitcher usage, and development. You don't need to build models, but you need to be fluent in what information they do or don't provide.
Scouting. Year-round, you'll work college programs, JUCOs, Summer Leagues, agents, and independent-ball networks to feed our pipeline and cultivate MLB scouting and player development contacts. Keep a detailed list of prospects and current potential roster additions at all times.
Community. Great Falls supports this ball club, and we show up for the city in return. You'll work closely with our Front Office on team appearances, camps, school visits, sponsor partnerships, and volunteer work, and ensure this expectation is set with your players and staff. Whether you live in Great Falls year-round or only for the season, we expect the Field Manager & Director of Baseball Operations to be present and invested in this community during their time here.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
โ€ข Professional playing, coaching, scouting, or front-office experience - or a track record at a high-level college program
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to evaluate and acquire players, not just coach them
โ€ข Working fluency with TrackMan & Synergy data and modern development methods
โ€ข An existing network in college, independent, or affiliated baseball, and the willingness to work it constantly
Preferred
โ€ข Prior experience as a Manager, Pitching or Field Coordinator, or Player Development Coordinator
โ€ข A record of helping players grow to be placed into affiliated organizations
HOW WE'LL MEASURE SUCCESS
1. We want to see a competitive ball club that Great Falls is proud to watch
2. This organization wants player contracts to be purchased by MLB organizations
3. We want to grow and stabilize our ability to attract and re-sign players on reputation
COMPENSATION
Salary: $40,000-$50,000, depending on experience and relocation
Contract: A three-year guarantee
Bonuses: TBD
Housing and relocation: TBD
Location: Present in Great Falls, MT for the season. Living here year-round is welcomed and supported but not required, but the year-round scouting and recruiting work must get done.
Reports to: Team President
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
