Job description

KCRA 3, the news leader in Sacramento and a Hearst Television station, has an opening for a News Video Editor. We are looking for a candidate with an excellent eye for compelling visuals who is passionate about combining video, sound and storytelling. You must work well with others, always positively representing us with the highest journalistic standards and professionalism on display. You will report to the News Operations Manager. This is an IBEW Union position.

Responsibilities

  • Edit a range of video elements for newscasts on tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with producers, reporters, photographers, assignment editors and managers to produce high-quality content
  • Coordinate incoming video elements from crews in the field
  • Ensure storage and organization of media files
  • Execute our standard of excellence for all edited material
  • Produce and publish content for online platforms
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by news managers

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional video editing experience
  • Proficiency with editing software such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
  • Can handle the pressure of time-sensitive newscast production
  • Bilingual experience is a plus
  • Related military experience will be considered

Salary

The estimated base salary range for this role is between $45,698 and $52,988. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
