Summary
This position will lead CET in the design, develop, testing and implementation of software systems and autonomy. The director will lead the team in developing mission capable vehicle-level integrations for the CET UUV family. As new missions are contemplated, the director will develop and socialize software and systems strategy into the overall CET quoting, planning and engineering activities.
Essential Functions

  • Lead software integration of systems, processes, interconnections, and methodologies to ensure the performance of the total system.
  • Create maintain the autonomy strategy and maturity model in collaboration with the CTO and engineering leadership.
  • Support the development, operation, and maintenance for the purposes of testing and mission demonstration as applicable to marine vehicles.
  • Lead vehicle behavior and mission implementation for the purposes demonstrations, including travel to the events as needed.
  • Provide expert leadership in utilization of external communication and signals such as GPS, Acoustic Comms or satellite systems to execute vehicle missions.
  • Work with electrical engineering to ensure hardware architecture is capable and appropriate for current and near-future mission needs.
  • Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software elements, associated hardware components, or 3rd party software needed to execute the vehicle missions.
  • Provide the engineering leadership on core 3rd party autonomy solution including MOAA, PCX and Open UUV.
  • Develops test strategies, devices, and systems. Prepares test procedures and test reports as necessary to document designs, procedures, and results.
  • Leads the creation and maintenance of training procedures to ensure safe operation of the vehicle in the field by CET or customer personnel.
  • Provided expert input on technical drawings, specifications of software systems, datasheets to ensure conformity to standards and effectively communicate customer requirements.
  • May use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee can exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
Must possess ability to work in a standard office environment and on production floor; use standard office equipment, including a computer; walk and climb stairs; carry supplies, equipment, and materials up to 40 lbs.; read printed materials on computer screen; and communicate in person and over the phone
Position Type & Expected Work Hours This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel
Occasional travel to demonstrations is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Electrical Engineering (MS+ preferred)
  • (7-10+) years professional software systems experience
  • Passion for autonomy and software
  • Ability to manage multi-program deliverable priorities to meet milestone commitments.
  • Proficient/understand software tools needed for all elements of development and debugging
  • Experience working with underwater robotics/electronics
  • Preferred: Not a must: Experience UUVs and integrating subsea acoustic sensors
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Software testing and production release experience
  • Machine learning experience a plus
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be a US Citizen
