Job description

This is an opportunity for a nationally recognized physician leader to build one of the country's most advanced musculoskeletal service lines-delivering evidence-based care, seamless coordination across the continuum, outstanding patient experiences, and best-in-class clinical outcomes.

As the physician leader of the Service Line Triad, the President will partner closely with nursing and administrative leaders to design and lead an evidence-based, seamless system of musculoskeletal care that delivers phenomenal patient experiences and exceptional clinical outcomes. Reporting to the Chief, Clinical Enterprise, this leader will drive service line strategy, advance multidisciplinary programs, and build innovative models of care that elevate quality, access, and value across all sites of care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Shape the long-term vision and strategy for musculoskeletal services across the system, building an integrated portfolio of orthopedic, spine, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and related subspecialty programs.

  • Develop and scale centers of excellence and multidisciplinary programs that deliver coordinated, evidence-based care across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, and digital care environments.

  • Advance clinical quality, safety, and outcomes, establishing systemwide standards, care pathways, and performance metrics that ensure high-value, contemporary musculoskeletal care.

  • Drive program growth and market leadership by expanding access points, developing ambulatory networks, and aligning physicians and care teams around strategic growth initiatives.

  • Foster innovation in care delivery, including care model redesign, adoption of new clinical technologies, and participation in national quality designations and accreditations.

  • Drive market growth and regional leadership for the MSK service line by shaping brand strategy, identifying and executing expansion opportunities, and partnering with marketing, care delivery sites, and community stakeholders to strengthen market presence, deepen community engagement, and achieve strategic growth targets.

  • Build and lead a high-performing physician and APP community, recruiting and developing top musculoskeletal/orthopedic talent while fostering a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Board Certification in a specialty of the service line

  • Licensed (or capable of being licensed) as a Physician in the State of Virginia

  • 10 years of physician experience

  • Doctorate degree in Medicine (MD)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience serving as a Service Line leader, Medical Director, or Physician Executive leading a large musculoskeletal/orthopedic service line within an integrated health system.

  • Demonstrated success in service line strategy, program growth, and market expansion, including development of ambulatory networks, centers of excellence, and multidisciplinary MSK programs.

  • Track record of advancing clinical quality, value-based care, and care model innovation within musculoskeletal or surgical service lines.
