Job description

About the Role

A growing outpatient specialty medical group with multiple clinic locations in the Atlanta metro is looking for a Clinical Applications Specialist to take ownership of its core clinical technology environment. This person will be the go-to owner for the EHR platform, imaging systems, clinical interfaces, and the tools clinicians rely on every day, shifting the organization from reactive troubleshooting toward proactive system management. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with strong support from leadership and room to grow into broader IT leadership over time.

What You'll Own

  • Administer and maintain the EHR and practice management platform across all clinic sites, including user access, configuration, and uptime
  • Manage imaging system connectivity (PACS/DICOM) and the interfaces linking clinical platforms together, partnering closely with an interface developer
  • Lead technology rollouts for new clinic openings, coordinating hardware readiness, system setup, and staff training so locations go live smoothly
  • Build and maintain governance standards and standard operating procedures for clinical technology use across the organization
  • Design and deliver training for providers and clinical staff on new and existing systems, adjusting for varying levels of technical comfort
  • Act as the main point of contact between clinical staff, the support/IT team, the managed services provider, and clinical software or hardware vendors
  • Contribute to custom development and reporting initiatives, including work to bring imaging reports directly into the EHR and expanding use of the EHR's mobile and AI-assisted documentation features

What We're Looking For

  • Prior experience in a product or application management capacity for a leading ambulatory EHR platform (NextGen strongly preferred; comparable platforms such as Epic will be considered)
  • Experience with patient engagement tools and payment processing platforms used in a clinical setting
  • Exposure to surgical/ambulatory surgery center information systems is a plus
  • Solid understanding of imaging workflows, PACS, and DICOM standards
  • Experience with clinical interface engines (Mirth Connect preferred) or strong familiarity with how clinical interfaces work
  • Demonstrated project management ability, including technology governance, training rollout, and hardware coordination across multiple sites
  • A patient, approachable, self-starting style. Many requests will be basic training needs rather than complex technical issues, so a steady, service-minded approach matters more than deep troubleshooting instincts

Team & Reporting Structure

This role has no direct reports but works in close partnership with a dedicated interface developer. It sits within a broader applications team of about eight people spanning product/application management, support, and business analysis. There is no rigid career ladder, but leadership actively supports staff development, including preparing high performers for future director-level opportunities.

Logistics

  • Based in Atlanta, on-site daily. Open to relocating candidates, though relocation assistance is not provided
  • Occasional travel within Georgia to other clinic locations (roughly annual, tied to new site openings and periodic check-ins), not a strict requirement
  • Salaried position with occasional after-hours or weekend contact for clinic-related questions; this is infrequent
  • This is an immediate need, and the hiring team is looking to move quickly
