Machinist

1st Shift - 7:00 am - 3:00 pm 

Job Description:

This is a skilled trade position responsible for supporting and maintaining the building and all the equipment inside the Kennametal Manufacturing Plant. The individual will be interacting in a high pace environment alongside various plant personnel or independently repairing issues, making fixture, developing tooling and problem solving. The expectation for this position is to develop and grow into an experienced machinist position. Training under the guidance of our senior machinist learning how to use CNC Lathes and Mills supporting other areas of the Plant making tooling and fixturing.

 

Skills Sets/Requirements:

  • Efficiently Machining
    • CNC machining & programming - Lathes, Mills, EDM and Grinders
    • Various controls systems - Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, ProTrack
    • Manual machining & programming - Lathes, Mills, and Grinders
    • SAP PM or comparable CMMS Systems
    • Email / Microsoft Office
    • Master Cam / CAD / Solid Works / Blueprint reading
    • Measurement tools - Calipers, Micrometers, Indicators
    • Welding - Tig, Mig, Arc & Orbital
    • Work in Metric or English measurements
  • Fabrication
    • Welding - Arc, MIG, TIG and Orbital
    • Plasma Cutting
    • Metal shaping and bending

 

Job Requirements: The individual must have a High School diploma or GED.  Completion of a Machinist or Tool & Die training program preferred. Four (4) years of experience working as a Machinist or Tool & Die marker preferred.  The ability to understand instructions, follow plant processes and procedures, plan, coordinate, and direct their work while prioritizing efforts. The individual must be flexible to work overtime including Saturdays. Participation in the Spill Response program is required.

Work Environment: Environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems.  Safety glasses with side-shields required. Safety shoes required. Cut resistant gloves when necessary.

Physical Demands: Approximately 8 hours standing/ walking with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period. Frequent reaching, climbing, and bending. Lifting up to thirty-three (33) pounds.

Problem Solving: Gather and analyze information, utilize learned skills, and critical reasoning to develop options and solve moderate to complex problems.
