Job description

Custodian Specialist
Posting Summary
Perform variety of custodial cleaning services, in a team setting, to University facilities. Clean and maintain floor surfaces: dust mop, sweep, wet mop, top scrub and buff floors and periodically strip floors of finish using powered scrubbing and burnishing machines. Clean water fountains, clean waste receptacles, wash windows. Maintain safe and clean living, learning and work environment. Remove trash and recycled items. May respond to after-hours emergency calls. May operate University vehicle. This position requires active engagement in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer service. Under the direct supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, support our department's mission, "providing the University with a clean, safe, and healthy environment in which to live, learn and work."
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
High school diploma and one year of custodial experience required. Ability to read, write and speak basic English required. Ability to successfully complete ten-hour OSHA training on construction, safety, and health issues required. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain a driver's license and driver's check may be required. Basic computer skills required. Lifting of up to 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs occasionally required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of physical screening. Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team. Effective interpersonal skill sets, and dedication to customer service. Ability to climb ladders, and shovel snow. Availability to respond to after-hours emergency call-ins as needed. Ability to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to workplace diversity, sustainability, and delivering exceptional value and great experience to customers required.

$19.45 (external); Current +5% for Internal Promotion (approx $20-20.50)
