Job description

Horizon House, a non-profit organization, has been widely recognized for its services as a provider of community-based behavioral health, intellectual disabled and homeless services in Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware. Each year, Horizon House provides a continuum of services at over 100 sites to over 4,500 adults with psychiatric or developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol addictions, and/or homelessness. A pioneer in the field of community-based rehabilitation, Horizon House is widely recognized for its innovative approach to the delivery of services in a community setting.

Currently, we are seeking a Full-time Learning & Development Manager to work in our Developmental Services Division.

Purpose:

  • Provides instruction for Developmental Services Orientation and Annual Required Training for all employees.
  • Assists staff in operationalizing regulatory requirements, maintaining standards and adhering to established
    protocols for the purpose of achieving best practices in residential supports and services.
  • Provides both didactic and on sight supervision of PA ODP Approved Medication Administration Course for initial
    certification of employees to administer medications.
  • Coordinates with Operations Management and Program Directors to ensure staff attend required training.
    Supervision Received:
  • Receives direct supervision from Quality Improvement Director.
    Supervision Exercised:
  • Negotiated authority with all levels of staff and management in the division. (directors, managers, supervisors)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Social Work or Psychology and experience in the field of intellectual disabilities
    or behavioral health; or any other combination of experience or training that would provide the level of
    knowledge, skill and ability required.
  • Certified through the PA Department of Public Welfare Train the Trainer Medication Administration Program to train
    staff in safe medication administration.
  • Three years’ experience in a Training/Developmental role.
  • Proficient use of computer software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, a must.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience with supervision and performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics, organization development, and training methodologies.
  • Self-motivated and able to set and balance multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with accreditation and/or state licensure review processes, preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Scope:

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time while preparing lesson plans and fulfilling administrative duties; training
    requires movement and bodily action; prolonged periods of standing while facilitating training.
