Job Description SummaryThe Senior Director, Software Engineering will lead a globally distributed software engineering organization across the US, India, and Poland, setting technical direction and delivering scalable software solutions that create meaningful customer and business value. This role combines technical and organizational leadership across software architecture, engineering practices, AI-enabled development, and complex software platforms. The leader will partner across Product Management, Program Management, clinical teams, business stakeholders, and technology organizations to translate customer needs into engineering outcomes while balancing innovation, delivery, quality, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, privacy, and operational excellence.Job DescriptionResponsibilities
  • Lead a globally distributed software engineering organization across the US, India, and Poland, fostering collaboration, accountability, ownership, inclusion, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
  • Define and execute an AI-first engineering strategy using AI-assisted development, automation, modern engineering practices, and emerging technologies to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and increase engineering productivity.
  • Establish technical standards, software architecture principles, engineering practices, and development methodologies that enable scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable, and extensible software solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex software platforms spanning cloud, edge computing, distributed systems, data, analytics, and intelligent capabilities, guiding architecture and technical direction through strong software engineering and system design principles.
  • Lead engineering execution across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through development, release, deployment, and operational support, while advancing cloud-native development, DevSecOps, automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and quality engineering practices.
  • Partner with Product Management, Program Management, clinical teams, Quality, Security, Regulatory, business stakeholders, and technology leaders to translate customer needs and feedback into prioritized engineering outcomes, manage dependencies, resolve technical trade-offs, and drive adoption and measurable business value.
  • Influence product roadmaps, technical strategy, architecture decisions, and investment priorities by balancing customer value, business objectives, technical sustainability, and engineering excellence.
  • Build and develop engineering leadership and technical talent through hiring, mentoring, and development of engineering managers and technical leaders, while establishing an effective global operating model and consistent engineering standards across regions.
  • Ensure software solutions meet GE HealthCare expectations for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, privacy, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate technology strategy, execution progress, risks, opportunities, recommendations, and business outcomes effectively with executive leadership, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Required QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, developing, and delivering scalable software platforms and enterprise applications.
Software Engineering & Architecture
  • Strong software development experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering distributed systems, cloud-based services, edge computing solutions, and scalable software architectures.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, API design, service-oriented architectures, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience leading engineering teams responsible for complex software products from architecture and design through production deployment and operational support.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, evaluate architecture decisions, and drive engineering excellence across teams.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Significant experience leading software engineering organizations, including hiring, developing, mentoring, and retaining engineering managers and technical leaders.
  • Experience leading globally distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Product Management, Program Management, Quality, Security, Regulatory, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to influence without authority, build alignment, and drive execution across complex organizations.

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $228,160.00-$342,240.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
