Job description

Job Summary:
Cuyahoga Community College is seeking an Integrations & Automation Developer to design, build, and support custom applications that enhance both administrative and academic functions at the College. The role involves collaborating with end-users to gather requirements, developing web and integration applications, and maintaining code documentation to improve operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
• Partners closely with end-users to obtain solution requirements prior to development activities.
• Designs and implements web applications in a variety of languages (C#/.NET, Java, Groovy, etc.) that interact with database back-ends (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.), SharePoint lists, and authentication services (CAS, LDAP / AD, etc.).
• Designs and implements integration applications in a variety of languages (C#, Java, Groovy, React, Node.JS, etc.) that interact with database back-ends (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.) and web services to perform batch-like activities.
• Designs and implements online forms, and associated back-end user interfaces, as needed.
• Develops testing plans and actively participates in code reviews.
• Identifies new development opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
• Provides analysis, consultation, and recommendations to project teams, especially as they relate to the need for custom development.
• Responds to, investigates and resolves issues reported by end-users for all custom solutions.
• Develops and maintains code documentation, including troubleshooting guides and user guides.
• Updates the associated application architecture diagrams as environmental changes are made.
• Monitors and optimizes the performance of all custom solutions.
• Maintains and upgrades custom solutions as necessary, especially to address security issues and browser incompatibility; cross-trains team members to ensure support continuity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in I.T. or related field. (Significant related experience may substitute for education)
• Minimum of six years of direct programming/integration experience.
• Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situations.
• Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of programming theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus.
• Adept at learning new programming languages quickly with little oversight.
• Demonstrated basic Visio skills for creating integration and workflow diagrams.
• Demonstrated basic Project Management skills.
• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity.
• Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects.
• Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and quality.
• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively.

Preferred:
• Demonstrated basic experience with enterprise systems such as Ellucian Banner.
• Demonstrated experience in writing SQL queries and developing views.
• Experience with API development and RESTful web services.
• Experience with automation tools and workflow engines.
