Position Overview

The Academic Technology Operations Coordinator, under direction, routinely manages large, complex academic technology projects and operations that support the University's academic mission, teaching, learning, and innovative technology environments. The position coordinates academic technology operations across classrooms, conference spaces, digital learning environments, and other institutional facilities. Collaborates with academic leadership, the Institutional Facilities Project Manager, Campus Operations, ITS, campus stakeholders, and external partners to plan and implement innovative, accessible, and technology-enabled learning environments. Performs limited specialized technical duties while advancing operational excellence, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement in support of the University's academic community within the Division of Academic Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations and Service Delivery

  • Collaborates with the Center for Academic Technology team to promote innovative approaches and support high-quality service delivery across instructional technology, academic classrooms, audio-visual systems, digital learning spaces, and institutional workforce innovation environments.

  • Directs day-to-day operations of academic technology services across classrooms, conference spaces, digital signage, satellite locations, and workforce innovation environments.

  • Oversees operational processes and service delivery models, including preventative maintenance, incident response, and technology lifecycle management.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for academic technology operations, providing consultation, issue resolution, and support for faculty, staff, and campus partners.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

  • Cultivates collaborative partnerships with campus leadership, Campus Operations, ITS, Event Planning, Facilities, and external vendors to support integrated technology solutions.

Strategic Planning, Project Management, and Resource Administration

  • Leads and collaborates in the coordination, prioritization, and execution of work with Campus Operations, establishing service expectations, schedules, and resource allocations.

  • Manages the planning and implementation of academic technology initiatives, including classroom technology upgrades, AV integrations, and emerging technology deployments.

  • Applies formal project management methodologies to define scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and resource requirements, ensuring successful project delivery.

  • Administers budgets in collaboration with Center for Academic Technology leadership and coordinates the procurement, evaluation, selection, and deployment of instructional and AV technologies.

  • Ensures fiscal responsibility, resource optimization, and alignment with institutional priorities and standards.

Innovation, Emerging Technologies, and Continuous Improvement

  • Advances the integration and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within academic technology operations, supporting AI-enabled teaching and learning tools, service automation, and data-informed decision-making.

  • Promotes human-centered, ethical, accessible, and compliant AI practices aligned with institutional priorities and emerging higher education trends.

  • Monitors service metrics and implements continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.

  • Promotes ongoing professional development and continuous learning related to emerging technologies, accessibility requirements, AI-enabled teaching and learning, and workforce innovation environments.

  • Identifies and supports innovative solutions that enhance teaching, learning, collaboration, and institutional effectiveness.
