Assistant Director, Business Operations & Infrastructure

Department: Business Operations

Reports To: Director of Business Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Leadership Level: Level 3.5 โ€“ Assistant Director

Position Supervised: Coordinators, contractors, vendors, and volunteers as assigned

Job Status: Full-Time

Amount of Travel Required: 5%

Schedule: Full-time, on-site, regular evening and weekend work, and increased hours during Pride season

Compensation Range: $55,000 โ€“ $65,000, commensurate with experience

Summary

Stonewall Columbus seeks an Assistant Director, Business Operations & Infrastructure to support the Director of Business Operations in overseeing the organizationโ€™s systems, facilities, event operations, and operational execution. This role will lead day-to-day operational functions, including infrastructure management, facility use, event execution, Pride-related logistics, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement of internal processes.

The position is intended for a highly organized, solutions-oriented operations leader who can manage complex logistics, supervise staff and volunteers, collaborate across departments, and strengthen the operational backbone needed to support organizational growth and sustainability.

Essential Responsibilities Operations & Infrastructure Management
  • Support oversight of the Stonewall Columbus Community Center, including maintenance, safety, and overall functionality.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to facilities, maintenance, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain systems for tracking organizational assets, equipment, and infrastructure needs.
  • Identify operational challenges and proactively implement solutions.
Pride & Major Event Operations
  • Lead operational planning and execution of Pride Festival, March, and related events.
  • Coordinate vendors, logistics, permits, and operational systems.
  • Support safety planning and crisis management coordination.
  • Oversee Pride-related timelines, budgets in partnership with leadership, and execution readiness.
  • Manage relationships with Pride committees, volunteers, and external partners.
Facilities, Rentals & Event Coordination
  • Oversee building use, rentals, and event logistics throughout the year.
  • Conduct site tours and manage client relationships related to facility use.
  • Ensure proper setup, execution, and post-event processes for all events.
  • Support revenue-generating opportunities through space utilization.
  • Team Leadership & SupervisionSupervise coordinators, part-time staff, contractors, vendors, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Provide guidance, training, and oversight to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
Operational Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, checklists, and workflows.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across systems and processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Advancement to support event-related revenue opportunities, including Pride sponsorship execution and rentals.
  • Collaborate with Community Programs & Learning to support program logistics and space needs.
  • Coordinate with Executive Operations to ensure alignment on organizational priorities and timelines.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4โ€“6+ years of experience in operations, event management, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience coordinating complex logistics and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing large-scale events or festivals.
  • Experience working in nonprofit or community-based organizations.
  • Experience supervising staff, vendors, or volunteers.
