We are looking for an Infection Preventionist to care for our patients and facilitate their speedy recovery. You will also be responsible for educating them and their families on prevention and healthy habits. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to-promote patient’s being-by providing high quality nursing care.

 

Responsibilities: Infection Preventionist

  • Oversight of the IPCP to include:
    a. Preventing, identifying, controlling, reporting and investigating infections and communicable diseases for
    all residents, staff and visitors of the centers following local, state and national guidelines as well as
    recognized best practices.
    b. Education, enforcement and reinforcement of the written standards of the program as outlined in the
    Infection Control Policies and Procedures and as directed by the center Infection Control Program Risk
    Assessment.
    c. Maintain a system of surveillance to identify and prevent spread of infections to other persons within the
    center.
    d. Appropriately report communicable disease to the local, state and federal authorities as directed by
    regulation and law.
    e. Identify, enforce, observe, and reinforce appropriate transmission based and standard precautions within
    the center.
    f. Monitor the appropriate use of isolation within the center to reduce the risk of spread based on the
    organism and type of infection using the least restrictive measures possible to maintain the resident’s
    highest level of practicable well-being
  • Collaborate with center leadership and the medical director to develop, implement, evaluate and re-evaluate the annual infection control and prevention goals and plans.
  • Assess employees with open lesions or communicable disease for ability to work and any limitations or restrictions
  • Record, track and trend surveillance and investigation of infections; and actions taken to prevent and control spread of infections and report to center QAPI committee

 

Requirements: Infection Preventionist

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Valid nursing license in the state of Wisconsin
