Job description

Director of Housekeeping & Laundry

Allure of Zion | [City, State] | Full-Time

About the Role

Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in running a spotless, well-organized facility? Allure of Zion is looking for an experienced Director of Housekeeping & Laundry to lead our Environmental Services team and ensure our residents enjoy a clean, safe, and comfortable home. This is a great opportunity for a housekeeping supervisor or department head ready to step into a director-level leadership role in a long-term care setting.

What You'll Do
  • Direct and oversee all day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor cleaning schedules, staffing assignments, and quality standards across resident living and common areas.

  • Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping and laundry staff; provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

  • Manage department supply inventory, ordering, and budget in coordination with the Administrator and/or Director of Environmental Services.

  • Coordinate daily housekeeping and laundry services with Nursing and other departments to minimize disruption to residents.

  • Ensure proper cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of resident rooms, fixtures, floors, and common areas, following infection control protocols.

  • Train staff on safe chemical handling, proper dilution/mixing procedures, and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, state health department, and facility safety standards; lead department readiness for state and federal surveys.

  • Investigate and report all accidents, incidents, and safety concerns promptly to the Administrator.

  • Uphold resident confidentiality and HIPAA standards; promptly report any suspected privacy violations.

  • Serve as a visible, hands-on leader — willing to work alongside the team and step in on the floor when needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • Prior supervisory or management experience in housekeeping/laundry, preferably in a skilled nursing, senior living, or healthcare environment.

  • Working knowledge of infection control, safety regulations, and proper chemical handling procedures.

  • Strong leadership, scheduling, and organizational skills; ability to train and motivate a team.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and follow detailed written/verbal instructions.

  • A collaborative, patient, and compassionate approach to working with residents and staff.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in environmental services or facility management a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and remain on your feet for extended periods.

  • Able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 lbs to a height of 5 feet, and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

  • Able to manage the physical and emotional demands of a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Why Join Us
  • [Competitive pay & benefits — medical, dental, vision]

  • [Paid time off / holiday pay]

  • [401(k) with company match]

  • [Career growth and training opportunities]

  • [Supportive leadership team]
