TITLE: STUDENT TRAINEE
DEPARTMENT: NURSING
SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Position Summary
  • Attend the Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Complete classwork, skills labs, and clinical assignments.
  • Upon successful completion, students are reclassified as Nurse Aide Trainees.

Program Overview
You'll learn:
  • The role of Nurse Aide in long-term care
  • Communication & teamwork
  • Infection control & safety practices
  • Understanding residents (physical, emotional, cultural needs)
  • Assisting with daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility)
  • Basic nursing skills (vital signs, bedmaking, catheter care, specimen collection)
  • Dementia & Alzheimer's care
  • Nutrition, hydration, and restorative care
  • Professional development & stress management

Clinical Objectives
By the end of clinicals, students will be able to:
  • Provide safe resident care in bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility
  • Collect vital signs and assist with daily activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (or working toward completion)
  • At least 17 years old
