About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Controls/Mechanical/Systems Engineer at our Tualatin, OR location.

OVERVIEW/FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, these positions work independently and/or as a team to develop, design and engineer fluid handling/process piping components, systems and other products for internal manufacturing and/or customers.  The ideal candidate has broad experience in mechanical, electrical, controls, and process engineering as it relates to fluid systems for industrial, semiconductor, and biomedical applications.               

EDUCATION, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Level I Requirements:

  • Engineering degree from reputable engineering school (preferably ABET accredited) in the fields of electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
  • Capable of meeting EIT requirements
  • 3D design experience with SolidWorks, Creo,, or other major CAD platform
  • 2D design experience with AutoCAD, Visio or similar software for schematic development
  • Demonstrated design competence of components and electrical/mechanical assemblies
  • Working knowledge of fluid handling/process piping components, systems and practices
  • Working knowledge in practical application of materials, chemical compatibility and machine/process automation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical panel design/assembly and applicable practices to meet UL508 and CE/EU standards.
  • Can produce necessary engineering and design work for EMI products with oversight from others.
  • Can readily interpret and comply with EMI quality documents, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Basic knowledge and use of MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Level II Requirements (includes Level I requirements):

  • Proficient with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
  • Has a valid EIT certificate or 3-5 years work experience in an engineering position
  • Completes engineering and design work for EMI products with minimal oversight.
  • Can instruct others in the use and implementation of EMI quality documents, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrates sound engineering judgment in component selection (fluid handling, instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical components), materials selection, and chemical compatibility issues applicable to EMI-designed products.
  • Demonstrated experience with software development on one or more PLC/PAC/HMI platforms including but not limited to Allen Bradley, Emerson/GE IP, Omron, OPTO22, and Automation Direct.
  • Expert use of MS Office Suite (MW Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Level III Requirements (includes both Level I + II requirements):

  • Working toward or in possession of a PE license.
  • Can independently provide all aspects of engineering and design work for EMI products.
  • Can coordinate and lead a project team to complete projects on time and within financial constraints.
  • Can independently and competently represent the technical capabilities of EMI to customers and prospective sales contacts.
  • Consistently makes appropriate decisions regarding product quality and application suitability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all work in a safe manner.
  • Promptly report safety issues and any unsafe behavior of others to management.
  • Engineer products requested by sales, marketing and/or management team using CAD tools
  • Specify components/materials for customer projects and internal product development
  • Create documentation packages for specified products
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing
  • Provide technical support for customers
  • Perform engineering work as described in EMIs change control procedures
  • Deliver good designs from bad concepts
  • Support management as requested
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
