This position may be filled remotely, or in any of our locations.

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for supporting the Associate Director of Financial Reporting & Analytics in managing the Firm’s financial reporting and analysis functions. Leads the day-to-day execution of reporting deliverables, manages and develops the Financial Analyst team, and contributes to the development of analytic tools and delivery of Firmwide financial insights, exercising sound judgment and initiative within established direction. Essential functions include:

  • Directly manage and develop Financial Analysts; oversee workload prioritization, performance and professional development of the FA team 
  • Assist in Firmwide financial and statistical reporting, including monthly and annual leadership reports and Executive Board materials.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting dashboards and statistical platforms; ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Compile and prepare partner statistics (compensation, new partners, Partner Contribution Report) for review by partner compensation leadership.
  • Coordinate and manage the FA team’s role in the Firm’s budget and forecasting process, including revenue/expense projections, forecasting, and internal target analysis.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into measurable metrics and assist in tracking Firm, office, and SBU performance.
  • Coordinate external financial and diversity surveys; ensure accurate data collection and timely submission.
  • Oversee internal reporting controls and ensure monthly data builds and integrity checks are completed accurately and on schedule by the team.
  • Conduct statistical and financial analysis related to Firm, offices, SBUs, clients/matters, and timekeepers; escalate trends or risks.
  • Prepare ad hoc and client specific reporting and analysis to support leadership decision making.
  • Coordinate team contributions to year end reporting, tax schedules, audit requests, and balance sheet reviews; ensure accuracy and timeliness of all deliverables.
  • Support evaluation of financial impact for lateral hires and other strategic decisions.
  • Partner with Associate Director to evaluate, enhance and modernize financial reporting processes, leveraging emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve reporting efficiency, scalability and user experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Associate Director and Firm leadership.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year degree with major coursework in Finance required; Industry certifications preferred or combination of commensurate educational and professional experience required.
  • 5 years’ managerial experience leading a team within a law firm preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Proficiency in data extraction and system management within enterprise data warehouse environments (ETL) required; knowledge of budget platforms required. 
  • SQL proficiency required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.  Working knowledge of Power BI required; familiarity with SSRS preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all leaders across the firm.

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $116,000 - $237,000
  • State of Colorado: $107,000 - $191,000
  • State of Illinois: $105,000 - $204,000
  • State of Maine: $79,000 - $182,000

  • State of Massachusetts: $116,000 - $222,000
  • State of Maryland: $113,000 - $171,000
  • State of Minnesota: $116,000 - $192,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $126,000 - $229,000
  • State of New York: $108,000 - $234,000
  • State of Vermont: $115,000 - $220,000
  • State of Virginia: $76,000 - $220,000
  • State of Washington: $113,000 - $214,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $150,000 - $220,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
