Job description

General Purpose:

Generate sales of products and services offered by DFA Farm Supplies (DFA FS) through direct and meaningful interactions. Develop trusted consultative associations and "business-to-business" relationships with DFA members and other prospective customers.

This position will be based in the Western Area, the preferred candidate will live in Central California (Modesto/Fresno/Bakersfield areas).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with supervisor to develop and execute a comprehensive sales plan for the designated territory
  • Document interactions with members/customers in Salesforce within 24 hours
  • Exhibit interest in the innovation and progress of dairy operations
  • Work collaboratively with DFA FS vendor representatives and DFA field staff to connect with under-served members
  • Demonstrate an understanding of general dairy products and services
  • At the discretion of the supervisor, work to promote business across all DFA member services business units
  • At the discretion of supervisor, assist in the fulfillment of products and services to members by effectively interfacing with fellow team members and existing systems
  • Coordinate with supervisor to attend farm shows, membership meetings, and other events as necessary
  • Utilize marketing resources to identify targeted outreach efforts for members in assigned territory
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales Representatives to target, outreach, and follow-up within the assigned territory

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • BS in Business Management or Animal Science
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in direct on farm sales or the equivalent direct business experience
  • Demonstrated history of achieving sales goals
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products and Salesforce
  • Certification and/or license - N/A

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to effectively plan a weekly schedule and organize multiple activities within a defined geographic area
  • Familiarity with dairy farms and dairy farming practices
  • Highly motivated and able to complete tasks within a well-defined system
  • Excellent communications skills to ensure the ability to explain and educate coop members about the benefits of working with DFA Farm Supplies
  • Motivated to use technology as an asset to enhance work performance
  • Able to proficiency use Microsoft Office products and Salesforce
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Travel:75%-100% (3+ weeks per month)
