ABOUT OUR ROLE

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the physical property, maintenance, and engineering operations for Trailborn Jackson Hole.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leadership oversight and Administration of all aspects of the Engineering and Grounds department. Ensuring that the maintenance and repair of facilities operations and construction management activities are meeting all company objectives and requirements within budgetary guidelines.
  • Responsible for creation and administration of the department financial plan and management of the approved plan including labor, expenses, and allocations.
  • Coordinate Engineering and Grounds activities under the direction of the Assistant General Manager.. Work effectively and cooperatively with all department Directors to ensure all guest service goals are met. This position is a member of the Property Leadership Team.
  • Maintain professional and credible working relationship outside contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide full support for all guest-related maintenance needs. Guest services are a priority.
  • Detailed, hands-on planning of all Capital Projects.
  • Prepare and maintain a 5-year running Capital Plan for Hotel, Condos and Employee Housing, including, but not limited to recurring improvements such as roofing, painting, and other recurring/cyclic work.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the administration and execution of all contracts, certificates of insurance and permitting for all projects according to policy and regulation.
  • Work with the Project manager to ensure each project is successful and timely completed within budget and within the defined Scope of Work.
  • Plan, develop and implement procedures for all facilities maintenance, repair operations and construction.
  • Direct all Engineering and Grounds Department activities focusing on continual improvement and effective asset management.
  • Plan and implement any/all opening/closing of operational facilities as needed. Ensure that all operations open on time with full services and are closed safely efficiently.
  • Lead and supervise the Engineering Manager to ensure that maintenance work orders are being completed in a cost effective, timely and satisfactory manner. Ensure there is no backlog of work orders and that all projects are up to date.
  • Review and approve all departmental purchase orders and invoices within budget.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and County regulations, policies and procedures. Comply with all company policies and standards.
  • Facilitate and document annual departmental refresher trainings with all employees, “Emergency Action Plan procedures.” Conduct weekly and documented safety meetings with staff.
  • Oversee all timekeeping, scheduling and meal break compliance.
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with all guests and employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 to 10 year’s supervisory or foreman experience in general building maintenance, or in trades such as electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.
  • Must possess, or able to obtain, a valid Driver’s license within 90 days of employment, and comply with Trailborn company vehicle policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have a B.S. or an advanced degree in a related engineering discipline, facilities engineering, construction management, project management, building technology, or seven to ten years of professional equivalent managerial/supervisory level experience.
  • Established leadership, management and team-building skills.
  • Strong commitment to process and change management with the ability to assess department demands and structure, including but limited to strengths, weaknesses and opportunities analyses, and evaluations of roles, responsibilities, and business processes.
  • Preparation and management of Operational and Capital budget programs.
  • Preparation and oversight of construction management program.
  • Comply with all current related safety and health requirements.
  • Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related to work in an extreme outside environment.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and various engineering software programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle numerous tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, using eye/hand coordination, handling, wrist motion.
  • Frequently walk and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally sit, handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel, lift/carry and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Will be required to stand long periods of time and to occasionally walk-up flights of stairs.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
