As part of Generate's team, you will lead the engineering assessment and execution of a growing portfolio of off-grid natural gas power generation projects integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will build and scale the systems and standards that enable consistent successful project design, engineering and operations, and provide technical leadership through development, with continued technical support into delivery. This role combines project-level technical expertise, strategic leadership and cross-functional collaboration to help deliver reliable, scalable power infrastructure that supports Generate's growth objectives.

  • Evaluate technical feasibility and risk for proposed customer solutions and Generate investments
  • Establish Large Load development and design standards that enable repeatable execution at scale, partnering with Project Delivery and Technical Asset Management to ensure designs carry cleanly into construction and long-term operations
  • Lead early-stage technical diligence in partnership with development, commercial and investment teams
  • Oversee engineering interfaces with owner's engineers, EPCs, utilities, and technology providers
  • Support project delivery teams from Notice to Proceed through Commercial Operation
  • Identify and mitigate technical and execution risk before it impacts schedule, cost, or performance.

Support Commercial and Procurement Decisions
  • Review EPC/EPCM agreements, OEM supply contracts, and technical schedules from an engineering risk and execution perspective
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reduce project risk, and support successful project outcomes
  • Accurately assess islanded behind-the-meter projects while preparing for future grid connection in the design
  • Provide technical input during procurement activities, contract negotiations, and equipment evaluations
  • Provide technical input during PPA and Tolling Agreement negotiations
  • Interface between Generate's DC partner engineering teams and DC tenant engineering teams

Drive Engineering Excellence Across Projects
  • Guide engineering execution across multiple concurrent projects at varying stages of development and delivery
  • Standardize development-engineering procedures, specifications and design details across the Data Center Power Solutions portfolio
  • Create, review and approve critical engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, equipment datasheets, civil and structural designs, control narratives, and cause-and-effect matrices
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces between EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, and internal stakeholders across Development, Development Engineering, Origination, Procurement, and Project Management
  • Manage external engineering firms as part of executing comprehensive project engineering scope
  • Ensure engineering scopes, resource forecasts, budgets, and change management processes are effectively tracked and communicated
  • Support commissioning and startup activities by providing technical guidance, design clarifications, and issue resolution

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:
  • 12+ years of experience engineering power generation projects, including engines, turbines, fuel cells and energy storage projects
  • Experience designing and delivering utility-scale or large-load power projects
  • Strong familiarity with EPC and design-build delivery models, including owner-furnished equipment, utility interfaces, and owner's engineer structures
  • Proven ability to balance innovation with standardization and execution discipline
  • Comfortable operating in a cross-functional environment with commercial, development, and investment teams
  • Clear communicator able to translate technical complexity into actionable business insight
