THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a full-time Principal Embedded Security Engineer who will report to Director of Software Engineering on the Software Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will participate in the development of Silvus' MANET radios and advanced research projects. This individual will work on all aspects of
the system including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features.

This position is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule. A minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze applicable information security regulatory requirements and standards including but not limited to NIST FIPS 140-3, NIAP Common Criteria, NSA CNSA.
  • Drive product information security requirements definition and system designs based on regulatory and customer requirements and best practices.
  • Drive the FIPS 140-3 and CSfC certification process for the StreamCaster MANET products.
  • Analyze and improve general product security by adopting the best industry practices.
  • Work with outside cybersecurity evaluation team to identify and close security gaps.
  • Implement and test different security protocols and encryption algorithms as needed.
  • Work with the rest of the software engineering team to adopt the best practices for information security.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant fields plus 10 years of networking products embedded software development experience OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 14 years of networking products embedded software development experience.
  • Expertise in C/C++ programming.
  • Expertise with commonly used cryptographic and information security algorithms, protocols, and libraries such as AES, TLS, SSL, IPsec, MACsec, VPN, DMVPN, HMAC, DSA, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise with programming and usage on Linux OS.
  • Proven expertise in IP networking at both layer 2 and layer 3.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or relevant fields.
  • Expertise in best practices in UI/API design related to information security.
  • Socket and network programming.
  • Successful FIPS 140 certification experiences are highly desirable.
  • Experience with CSfC and NSA High Assurance are highly desirable.
  • Python and other scripting programming experiences.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

COMPENSATION: $180,000 - $260,000 / annually
