Director, AI/ML

The Director, AI/ML is responsible for building and scaling AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science capabilities that deliver measurable business value across GXO's global network of 1,000+ warehouse sites. Reporting to the Senior Director, Warehouse AI, this role transforms proven solutions into standardized, reusable products that can be deployed and operated at enterprise scale. As the senior technical leader for AI/ML within Warehouse AI, the Director leads teams of data scientists, ML engineers, and AI professionals while defining the technical strategy, architecture, and operating model that enable AI solutions to scale globally. This role partners closely with Product, Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Architecture, Operations, and executive stakeholders to ensure AI capabilities are secure, scalable, and aligned with GXO's business and technology strategy. The position plays a critical role in shaping how GXO operationalizes AI across its global warehouse network.

What you'll do on a typical day

  • Lead GXO's AI/ML Engineering and Data Science organization, responsible for delivering AI-powered products and decision intelligence capabilities across a global network of 1,000+ sites.
  • Build, mentor, and scale teams of AI leaders, ML engineers, and data scientists.
  • Define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for predictive, optimization, and generative AI products.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Executive leadership to turn business opportunities into scalable AI capabilities.
  • Establish scalable engineering, MLOps, and AI governance practices that enable reliable and secure AI products at enterprise scale.
  • Drive innovation while ensuring AI solutions are secure, reliable, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

At a minimum, you'll need

  • 10+ years leading AI/ML and Data Science initiatives in production environments.
  • Experience managing technical teams and leaders.
  • Strong background in machine learning, software engineering, and cloud-native platforms.
  • Experience scaling and productizing AI solutions from pilot deployments to enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

It'd be great if you also have

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
  • Supply chain, logistics, warehouse automation, or industrial technology experience.
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI, LLMs, and agentic AI systems.
  • Experience building enterprise AI platforms and operating models.
  • Experience leading global teams and large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational and technical transformation initiatives, including establishing engineering standards, operating models, and high-performing teams.
