Job description

HYBRID: This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of any of the Mayo Clinic campuses for on-site expectations based on business needs. 
 

Success in this role will require the ability to lead and direct analytics projects through all analytics project stages: Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Acquisition and Preparation, Visualization/Model Development, Deployment, Maintenance, and Retirement. Preference will be given to candidates with healthcare analytics experience. The successful candidate must be able to bring data analytics projects to successful conclusion by performing analytics solution development as well as guiding fellow team members on task completion. The ability to direct the development of a portfolio of ongoing projects as well as exercise good judgement on when to discontinue analytic projects is also essential. Key responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Provide thought leadership for designing visual solutions for storytelling using end user visualization tools
  • Managing the portfolio of analytics and visualization projects under development by their assigned team
  • Lead or advise large analytics projects through all project stages
  • Collaborate with other internal Data and Analytics teams to accelerate solution development
  • Establish best practices related to data analytics and visualization
  • Train and mentor staff on how to develop analytics and visualization solutions
  • Guide the development of standardized processes for data acquisition and consumption for analytics and visualization solutions
  • Build, optimize, and maintain analytical models a Automate and develop reusable, self-service analytical tools and reports

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, or Computer Science domain or 7-10 years of experience working with data and analytics delivery.  

Demonstrated portfolio of insightful analytics, dashboards, models, or reports representative of 4-7 years of experience with one or more of the following: Epic, Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio, R Studio, Python, Alteryx, Oracle, and Google Cloud. Certification in one or more of the above required within 1 year of hire. 

  • Experience with SQL for data retrieval and knowledge of data modeling.
  • Experience training staff on visualization and analytics tools, techniques, methods, and best practices. 
  • Knowledge of AI/ML model types as a business owner and consumer of models as well is identifying opportunities to leverage AI/ML. 

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with reporting and analytics platforms such as Epic Cogito, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Fabric, and similar technologies is preferred. Knowledge of SQL databases, data modeling, and reporting optimization is desired. Experience with physician and hospital billing processes, including governmental, managed care, and commercial payer reimbursement, is preferred.

  • Epic Cogito and HFMA related certifications are preferred. 
  • Professional Certification (HFMA, etc.)
    Master's degree in a related in a related field is preferred
    Healthcare Finance experience, preferably at an Academic Medical Center, preferred
  • Knowledge of Epic and/or Clarity data model strongly preferred
  • Experience with GCP (BigQuery, AutoML, Looker) preferred
    Experience with Oracle ERP, EPM, and analytics and reporting tools desired
