Job description

The Sourcing Director for the Data Solutions business is a critical leadership role responsible for building and scaling a high-performance supply base to support rapid growth. This leader will drive end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier development, commercial excellence, and supply resiliency to ensure capacity, cost competitiveness, and continuity across a global supplier network.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Develop, and implement strategic plans of action for key commodities and suppliers that drive customer service, profitable growth, and supply continuity.
  • Define and execute a global sourcing strategy aligned with Data Solutions growth, margin, and capacity objectives.
  • Select suppliers and lead commercial discussions ranging from tactical commodity pricing agreements to complex, multi-year strategic relationships. This aligns with the broader sourcing role expectation to lead supplier commercial discussions, including contracts and material liability.
  • Own and deepen executive-level relationships with critical suppliers, establishing strong partnerships that support innovation, capacity expansion, and long-term growth. The role is explicitly intended to strengthen executive supplier relationships.
  • Build supplier ramp plans and ensure rate readiness across key programs, including proactive capacity planning and supply assurance for rapid business expansion.
  • Monitor, analyze, communicate, and provide guidance on market cycle impacts, commodity trends, and supply market risks within assigned spend categories.
  • Establish and implement business processes to reduce and control total cost of purchased materials while improving service, resilience, and responsiveness.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, planning, quality, and program teams to integrate sourcing considerations into product roadmaps, NPD, and customer commitments.
  • Establish strong governance over contracts, supplier performance, and risk mitigation plans, including continuity, liability, and long-term capacity commitments.
  • Implement strong supply management tools, technology, and sourcing processes to improve results and increase efficiencies.
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations or related field is required. MBA, or advanced certification in supply chain or procurement is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or supply chain is highly preferred. Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
  • Strategic sourcing leadership experience with the ability to define global sourcing strategies, build scalable supplier networks, and align supply management priorities with business growth objectives.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including advanced negotiation, contract management, total cost of ownership, supplier economics, and risk mitigation.
  • Executive-level supplier relationship management, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build trusted partnerships, and create supplier governance mechanisms.
  • Supplier development and operational readiness expertise, including capacity planning, ramp readiness, quality improvement, and supplier performance management.
  • Analytical and market intelligence capability to assess commodity trends, supply risks, inflationary impacts, and sourcing opportunities.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range:

$172,900.00 - $257,000.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
