Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is seeking a Full-Time Overnight Security Officer to provide access control and traffic management services at a critical infrastructure facility in Nederland, Colorado. This position plays an important role in maintaining secure site operations by monitoring vehicle traffic, assisting authorized vendors, supporting gate operations, and responding promptly to security-related situations.
Because this assignment is in a mountain environment, candidates must be comfortable driving during snow, ice, and other challenging weather conditions while maintaining professionalism and sound judgment.
Primary Responsibilities
Access Control
  • Verify identification and authorization for employees, contractors, vendors, and approved visitors.
  • Direct incoming and outgoing traffic according to site procedures.
  • Assist gate personnel with processing vehicle access efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure entry procedures are followed to protect the integrity of the facility.

Traffic & Site Monitoring
  • Observe vehicle movement throughout the assigned entry points.
  • Monitor traffic flow to help maintain safe and orderly operations.
  • Watch suspicious activity, unauthorized access attempts, or unusual conditions.
  • Report operational concerns to supervisors without delay.

Incident Response
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or requests for assistance.
  • Assess situations calmly and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, emergency responders, and client representatives.
  • Help maintain a safe working environment while minimizing operational disruptions.

Documentation
  • Complete accurate activity logs and security reports during each shift.
  • Record visitor information, incidents, and unusual observations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation using company reporting systems.
  • Submit required reports before the conclusion of each shift.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving history.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle in snow, ice, and other adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain attentive during overnight shifts.
  • Professional customer service skills when interacting with vendors and authorized personnel.
  • Ability to work independently while following site-specific procedures.
  • Successful completion of all required background screening.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in gate security, access control, or critical infrastructure security.
  • Experience managing commercial vehicle or contractor traffic.
  • Familiarity with electronic reporting platforms and access management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills under pressure.
