Job description

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Revenue Cycle Executive, the Director of Patient Financial Services is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational oversight of all patient accounting functions across the health system. This role drives the performance of billing, collections, cash posting, and accounts receivable while ensuring regulatory compliance and an exceptional patient financial experience. The Director serves as a key leader within the Revenue Cycle organization, accountable for optimizing cash flow, reducing AR days, improving denial performance, and implementing best-in-class revenue cycle practices across hospital and professional billing environments.
EXPERIENCE: 8-10 plus years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle, including hospital billing and collections. Professional billing and collections experience is a plus. Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership role managing Patient Accounts or Patient Financial Services teams Experience in large, complex health systems or multi-site environments preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Deep expertise in revenue cycle operations, including: billing, collections, and denial management, Managed care contracts and reimbursement methodologies, Government and commercial payer regulations. Strong analytical and financial management skills with experience using KPIs to drive performance.
OTHER: Experience with major EHR/revenue cycle platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner) Cerner preferred. Proven leadership, communication and change management capabilities.
LICENSE/CERT: Preferred: CHFP (Certified Healthcare Financial Professional), CRCR-Certified Revenue Cycle Representative
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelors - Business, Bachelors - Finance, Bachelors - Health Administration, Equivalent Experience - equivalent combination of professional certification & job experience. Preferred: Masters - Related Field
