Director of Residential Services - Position Summary

Schedule: Full Time; includes on-call responsibilities, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Pay: $65,000 - $75,300 per year 

Location: Broome County, NY

Position Overview

The Director of Residential Services provides strategic oversight and operational leadership for assigned residential programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services while maintaining compliance with NYS OPWDD regulations and agency standards. The Director is accountable for achieving program outcomes across quality, service, workforce, and financial performance. 


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations across assigned residential programs 
  • Ensure compliance with all NYS OPWDD, waiver, and regulatory requirements 
  • Develop and maintain a stable workforce through recruitment, hiring, supervision, and retention strategies 
  • Directly supervise management staff, including performance evaluations and oversight of payroll and time-off processes 
  • Monitor and achieve program goals related to quality, service delivery, and financial performance 
  • Evaluate residential program needs and coordinate admissions, discharges, and service delivery 
  • Foster positive relationships with staff, individuals served, families, and community partners 
  • Represent Residential Services on committees and within the community as assigned 
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide leadership coverage as needed 
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including oversight of Medicaid billing and recordkeeping 
  • Review program documentation to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and billing practices 
  • Conduct audits, monitor program performance, and implement corrective actions as needed 
  • Lead responses to external audits, including development and execution of Plans of Corrective Action
  • Ensure timely reporting and follow-up on incidents, safety concerns, and compliance issues 
  • Develop and deliver staff training while ensuring required certifications are maintained 
  • Participate in professional development and required agency training initiatives 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership 


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services field and five (5) years of administrative or supervisory experience, Or Master's Degree in Human Services field and three (3) years of administrative or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in residential or human services settings
