About Us:
The Goddard School of Fairfield is a nationally recognized early childhood education program serving children from infancy through Pre-K. Unlike many schools, our owner and leadership team are actively involved in the daily operations of the school. Our collaborative leadership team includes an On-Site Owner, Executive Director, Assistant Directors, and classroom leadership who work together to support children, families, and faculty.
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and relationship-focused Assistant Director to join our leadership team.
Position Overview
The Assistant Director plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the school while helping maintain excellence in curriculum implementation, compliance, family communication, and faculty support. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on involvement in classrooms and staff coaching.
Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
  • Review and provide feedback on lesson plans
  • Support implementation of The Goddard School's Wonder of Learning curriculum
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching to teachers
  • Monitor classroom quality and educational best practices
  • Assist with curriculum displays and learning documentation
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Conduct health and safety audits
  • Support licensing compliance and quality assurance initiatives
  • Monitor classroom environments and documentation
  • Maintain incident and illness logs
  • Assist with emergency drills and safety procedures
  • Ensure compliance boards and required postings remain current
Faculty Support
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to teachers
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
  • Support classroom management and behavior guidance strategies
  • Help maintain positive staff morale and school culture
  • Serve as a resource for faculty throughout the day

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field preferred
  • CDA or equivalent credentials considered
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an early childhood setting
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive, professional, and team-oriented mindset
  • Familiarity with licensing regulations and quality standards preferred
