Job description

Position acts as an Employment amp; Direct Support Professional for the Janitorial Services Department of Sunrise Enterprises. This position trains and supervises individuals with disabilities to work in a janitorial environment. The janitor will be responsible for providing janitorial training ensuring detailed skills amp; quality outputs are maintained. Assist our employment services participants to acquire and develop the skills, behaviors, attitudes, and personal characteristics required to function effectively in a work environment the high-quality care, cleaning, and disinfecting of their assigned buildings during their assigned shifts. Services provided will include but are not limited to: Mopping, surface disinfecting, bathroom cleaning and disinfecting, window and glass cleaning, restocking of supplies, trash removal, floor buffing, carpet cleaning, and other services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least one (1) year of janitorial or supervisory experience or acceptable combination of experience, preferred.
  • One (1) year of working with individuals with intellectual amp; developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, Clean Guru, Paycor, and SetWorks preferred.
  • General knowledge of janitorial cleaning products and equipment.
  • Able to work independently, displaying initiative and creativity in the workplace.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and/or written instructions, reasonable accommodations will be made for a person with a disability under ADA.
  • ODL is required and must have an insurable driving record by Sunrise insurance carrier.
  • Pass drug screen including marijuana/THC, background check, which will include fingerprints, and an additional CJIS Background Check.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
Working Conditions/Hours
Mostly indoors, exposure to dust, noise, manufacturing amp; cleaning chemicals. Typically, Monday โ€“ Friday, 2 p.m. โ€“ 10:30 p.m. Overtime, holidays, amp; weekends may be required.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Driving, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 45 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be made for a person with a disability under ADA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Janitorial Functions:
  • Promptly, at the start of the shift, review emails, work schedule, crew assignments, check equipment amp; supplies required to perform the work and comply with PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements.
  • Perform vehicle checks before and after returning to janitorial office.
  • Inform supervisor in a timely manner when materials or products need to be purchased.
  • Perform detailed and thorough janitorial services required by the scope of work for every client. Including but not limited to dusting, disinfecting, sweeping, moping, vacuuming, washing windows, mirrors, wiping down surfaces, and trash removal.
  • Utilize tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe amp; economical manner as prescribed by company procedures, using a โ€œsafety firstโ€ approach.
  • Understand proper use of chemicals and familiar with SDS protocols.
  • Resupply any client items as instructed according to the scope of work.
  • Always maintain a safe work environment amp; immediately notify supervisors of any safety hazard.
  • Always maintain security of client facilities amp; Sunrise equipment and properties.
  • Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Utilize janitorial software to track and document all janitorial service work.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted on time in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in required meetings, training, and committees.
  • Ensure a high quality of service is delivered to janitorial participants.
  • Safely drive crew to various account locations.
  • Know and follow organizational quality control guidelines.
  • Conduct quality checks and document according to organizational protocol.
  • Meet regular attendance requirements as assigned.
  • Keep work area in a clean, safe condition.
Employment Professional (EP) amp; Direct Support Functions:
  • Provide janitorial training to individuals with intellectual amp; developmental disabilities ensuring detailed skills amp; quality outputs are maintained.
  • Assist our employment services participants to acquire and develop the skills, behaviors, attitudes, and personal characteristics required to function effectively in a work environment.
  • Serve as a role model for appropriate work behaviors, social skills, respect for others, and cooperation.
  • Works closely with Employment Services and follow all employment service protocols, this includes but is not limited to; participantโ€™s employment training to maximize their employment potential, goal setting, and behavioral supports.
  • Achieve and maintain continuing educational credits.
  • Keep relationships with participants professional and limited to work settings and supports.
  • Notify your supervisor of any conflicts of interest due to preexisting relationships with participants.
  • Ensure job stations for participants are set up prior to their work shift.
  • Ensure processes are in place to keep the flow of material to job stations constant.
  • Report any incidents of neglect, abuse, emergencies, or problems to your supervisor or appropriate person by policy.
  • Utilize case management software to track and document all employment services participantโ€™s progress.
  • Provide transportation at shift end to participants.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
