Job description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) – IDD/DBHDD Experience Preferred

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) with a strong background in supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), specifically within the Georgia DBHDD system. The ideal candidate will be passionate about person-centered care and skilled in assisting individuals with daily living activities, behavior support, and community integration while adhering to DBHDD standards.

Position Details:

  • Location: Rockmart, GA 30153
  • Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Shift availability:

  • Mid-day Shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Support individuals in achieving their personal goals as outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Monitor and document behavioral, medical, and emotional changes accurately and promptly.
  • Assist with medication administration (if certified) and support medical appointments.
  • Ensure safety and promote independence in residential, day, or community-based settings.
  • Uphold all DBHDD guidelines and state regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • DSP certification or CNA preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1–2 years experience working with individuals with IDD, preferably in a DBHDD-compliant setting.
  • Knowledge of DBHDD protocols, person-centered planning, and behavioral support.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must pass background checks, drug screening, and possess current CPR/First Aid certification.
