Job Summary/Basic Function
Weber State University seeks a Housing Maintenance person who will specialize in one of the five areas listed below, but who will also be able to do some work in more than one of these areas. Position can be filled at any level of the appropriate career ladder based on candidate qualifications.
  1. HVAC - Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on campus HVACR systems. Could be hired as an HVAC Technician I, II, or III (grade N24, N25, or N26) depending on candidate qualifications.
  2. Plumbing - Maintains existing plumbing systems on campus and installs new ones. Could be hired as a Plumber I, II, or III (grade N24, N25, or N26) depending on candidate qualifications.
  3. Electrical - Read blueprints or technical diagrams. Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems. Operate and Repair electrical systems to meet University needs. Could be hired as an Electrician I, II, or III (grade N24, N25, or N26) depending on candidate qualifications.
  4. Painting - Provides basic painting services to Weber State University campus. Could be hired as a Painter I, II, or III (grade N23, N24, or N25) depending on candidate qualifications.
  5. Carpentry - Provides basic carpentry services to Weber State University campus. Could be hired as a Carpenter I, II, or III (grade N23, N24, or N25) depending on candidate qualifications.

  • High School diploma

HVAC II (N25)
  • High School diploma
  • 3 years full time HVAC experience

HVAC III (N26)
  • High School diploma
  • Must have 6 years full time HVAC experience + must be able to pump down and charge a refrigeration system including replacement of a refrigerant compressor.

OR
  • 3 years full time work experience + NATE certification + must be able to pump down and charge a refrigeration system including replacement of a refrigerant compressor.

OR
  • 3 years full time HVAC experience + EPA 608 Universal Certification + must be able to pump down and charge a refrigeration system including replacement of a refrigerant compressor.

Plumber I (N24)
  • Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in the State Plumbing Apprenticeship Program or become enrolled within 6 months of being hired.

Plumber II (N25)
  • High School diploma
  • Must meet state requirement for level 2 apprentice in the State Plumbing Apprenticeship Program Plumber III (N26) High School diploma Journeyman plumber's license

Electrician I (N24)
  • Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in the State structural, electrical, Apprenticeship Program or become enrolled within 6 months of being hired.
