Position Description

Applied Medical is seeking a calibration engineer to maintain and advance the calibration program supporting inspection, measurement, and test equipment used throughout manufacturing operations. The calibration engineer, also referred to as a metrology engineer or calibration technician in the industry, calibrates electrical, dimensional, and physical or mechanical equipment, maintains primary calibration standards, and upholds the quality system that governs the calibration laboratory. This position is available at the Calibration Engineer and Senior Calibration Engineer levels, with placement determined by experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in electrical, dimensional, or physical or mechanical disciplines to guarantee compliance with established standards.
  • Maintain primary calibration standards and recommend reference standards for calibration applications.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold the quality system for the calibration department in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with automation, engineering, and energy departments on specialized research and development projects.
  • Apply engineering expertise to design and advance calibration techniques and fixtures.
  • Develop and manage calibration instructions to reduce reliance on external calibration services.
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates, and generate corrective action reports for non-conforming equipment.
  • Train and educate team members on calibration principles and practices.

  • Maintain equipment calibration and compliance across electrical, dimensional, and physical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Identify conditions that fall outside acceptable tolerance levels and resolve them before they affect quality.
  • Strengthen the calibration department through sound quality systems and clear calibration instructions.
  • Advance calibration techniques and fixtures through applied engineering expertise.
  • Support cross-functional research and development work through strong collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Reduce dependence on external calibration services through effective internal instruction development.
