Job Title: Process Control Technician – Dimensional Quality (Quality Control Technician)

Job Description

This role focuses on ensuring dimensional quality and process control within a manufacturing environment. The Process Control Technician conducts precision inspections, monitors Statistical Process Control (SPC) data, investigates quality issues, and supports continuous improvement across production, welding, stamping, and assembly operations. The position requires close collaboration with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to maintain high product standards and robust quality systems.

This role is a 12 hour, night shit role, 5:15pm - 5:15am

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections on components and assemblies using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools.
  • Monitor, interpret, and react to Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and control charts to ensure processes remain within defined limits.
  • Identify, document, and contain non-conforming material to prevent further processing or shipment.
  • Conduct audits, process verifications, and assembly line inspections to verify compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Develop, update, and maintain inspection and gauging instructions to support consistent and accurate measurements.
  • Support welding inspection activities, including destructive and non-destructive testing processes for MIG (GMAW) and Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) operations.
  • Investigate quality concerns, perform root cause analysis, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve processes and enhance overall product quality.
  • Maintain calibration, accuracy, and integrity of inspection tools, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Assist with quality training initiatives, sharing best practices and supporting the development of team members.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance inspection methods, process capability, and product consistency.
  • Participate in shift handoff communications to ensure continuity of quality information and actions between shifts.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely quality documentation, records, and reports.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing quality, inspection, or process control experience preferred, with hands-on exposure to production environments.
  • Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality inspection methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools.
  • Experience performing quality inspections on components and assemblies, including sheet metal parts (preferred).
  • Knowledge of welding processes, including MIG (GMAW) and Resistance Spot Welding (RSW).
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot manufacturing quality issues effectively.
  • Experience in quality control, quality assurance, quality inspection and measurement within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong computer skills for data entry, SPC monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime as business needs require.
  • Ability to pass Near Vision Acuity and Color Contrast Differential testing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds throughout the workday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Experience inspecting sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Experience supporting stamping, welding, or assembly operations.
  • Nondestructive Testing (NDT) or Ultrasonic Testing experience.
  • Familiarity with IATF and ISO quality systems and related documentation requirements.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and corrective action management in a production environment.
  • Exposure to industrial environments involving welding, stamping, and automated equipment.

Why Work Here?

You will join a manufacturing organization that values robust quality practices, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement. The environment encourages you to use your technical skills in SPC, dimensional inspection, and problem-solving to make a tangible impact on product quality and process stability. You will work closely with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams, gaining broad exposure to modern manufacturing operations and quality systems. The role offers opportunities to expand your expertise in welding inspection, stamping, and automotive manufacturing while contributing to a culture focused on safety, accountability, and professional growth.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing production environment with regular exposure to production equipment, varying temperatures, and industrial noise levels. You will frequently interact with production, engineering, and quality personnel on the shop floor and in related work areas. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds throughout the workday while performing inspections and process checks.
