Job Purpose
  • The Digital Product Management (DPM) Development Systems Engineer II is responsible for projects, system enhancements and portfolio support of the Honda DPM systems. This includes tools, methods and processes necessary for the development and verification of today's advanced products, including Automotive, Power Sports, and Power Equipment. Ideal candidate for this position will provide direction, technical leadership and lead projects working with North American Business teams, Japan-based IT teams and global outsourcing vendors.
  • Coordination with other New Model Development Systems department IT teams is critical to implement and support integrations with engineering tools such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) or Computer Aided Testing (CAT).
  • The DPM Development Systems Engineer is expected to serve as the technical resource for CAD and PLM tools when collaborating with other AHM IT Units/Teams and HDMA function group users.
Key Accountabilities Tactical / Task
  • Supervisory responsibility for tools and processes within the Digital Product Management (DPM) team.
  • Define system and application support metrics and use such metrics to monitor support quality and performance.
  • Implement measures to meet quality and performance goals.
  • Coach junior engineers in their effort to provide support for their assigned solutions.
New Technology Implementation
  • Key roles in implementing next generation CAD and PLM tools and processes.
  • Lead medium-complexity projects and support large/global initiatives as a key NA technical contributor for Global projects.
  • Define steps required to meet required outcomes for broad and complex initiatives.
  • Set the necessary budget and resource plan for complex initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for sharing and utilizing CAD and PLM tools across the enterprise thus extracting maximum benefit.
Planning and near-term strategy
  • Planning and Developing Strategy across the Digital Product Management (DPM) team portfolio.
  • Work with business units and teams to develop 1-3 year strategy and roadmap for future Digital Product Management (DPM) functionality.
  • Present coordinated DPM Platform portfolio roadmaps to AHM IT Department and Unit Leaders for inclusion in AHM DMS Division Business Planning and to secure project funding.
  • Develop budget estimates and resource requirements for Development Management Platform portfolio.
Leadership
  • At this level, the associate has minimal accountability in this category although will begin to contribute to the Unit and Department vision.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Education: At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science / Applications, Electrical / Electronics, Mechanical or similar STEM field of study.
  • Minimum work experience: At least 5 years relevant industry experience.
  • Qualified candidates must have expert knowledge of at least 2 of these disciplines:
    o Product design and manufacturing principles (Design, BOM, Specification, Testing)
    o Enterprise Product Lifecyle Management Applications (DS 3DExperience, ARAS Innovator, Siemens Teamcenter or similar)
    o Mechanical engineering principles (Stress, strain, force, mass, etc.)
    o Design and Manufacturing Applications (CAD, CAE, CAM or CAT)
  • Qualified candidates must have a working knowledge of at least 2 of these IT disciplines:
    o Computer Operating systems, database and application administration
    o Programming skills (compiled languages - C / C++ /C#, Visual Basic / Java and scripting using Python)
    o Fundamentals of DevSecOps framework
    o Agile software development methods
  • General knowledge across the Product development lifecycle (PLM) and corresponding DPM practices
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing or verbally and adapt style depending on audience
  • Proficiency in Project Management
  • Ability to proactively practice cross-region interpersonal communication.
  • The ability to structure knowledge and share it widely across units.
Workstyle
  • This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
