Role Summary

The Director of Security Solutions Engineering leads a team of pre‑sales security engineers and architects responsible for technical strategy, solution design, and customer‑facing engineering support across EVOTEK’s cybersecurity portfolio. This role bridges sales, vendor partnerships, and technical delivery ensuring the sales organization has the expertise needed to win, design, and scope security solutions that meet enterprise client needs. The ideal candidate combines deep technical security expertise with proven people leadership and a strong understanding of the VAR business model.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of Security Solutions Engineers/Architects across pre‑sales engagements
  • Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and build development paths for assigned technical staff
  • Establish scalable processes for solution design, proposal development, and technical documentation in support of EVOTEK’s offerings, inclusive of tool score carding and rationalization
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning around emerging security technologies and threats

Pre‑Sales & Solution Architecture

  • Oversee technical discovery, solution design, and proof‑of‑concept engagements for enterprise security opportunities
  • Ensure Solutions Engineers deliver accurate scoping, architecture diagrams, and bill of materials
  • Personally engage on strategic, complex, or high‑value opportunities requiring executive‑level technical credibility
  • Guide solution design and workshops across domains such as AI security, network security, cloud security, identity & access management, endpoint/XDR, SIEM/SOAR, zero trust architecture, and data protection

Sales Enablement & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Sales leadership to align technical strategy with revenue goals
  • Partner closely with Solution Engineering and Services Practice leadership to align technical strategies, ensuring security solutions are designed as part of a cohesive, multi‑discipline offering that integrates with networking, digital platforms, and executive advisory practices
  • Support RFP/RFI responses, competitive positioning, and proposal development
  • Deliver or oversee technical presentations, demos, and workshops for prospective and existing clients (i.e. own the technical win of sales offerings)
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value for client stakeholders

Partner Management

  • Maintain deep technical and business relationships with established security vendors as well as emerging technology vendors in the security space
  • Understand offerings across key vendors to support technology rationalization, selection and acquisition sales efforts
  • Support vendor certification requirements and partner‑tier technical competencies
  • Represent EVOTEK vendor business reviews, technical enablement sessions, and joint go‑to‑market planning

Practice & Portfolio Development

  • Help shape the EVOTEK’s overall Security Practice strategy and offerings in collaboration with the Services Delivery team and Solution Engineering leadership
  • Stay current on threat landscape and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, CMMC, HIPAA, and PCI‑DSS)
  • Identify opportunities to expand the security portfolio based on client demand and market trends

Operational Excellence

  • Manage team utilization, sales coverage, and engagement quality
  • Ensure consistent, high‑quality documentation and knowledge sharing across the team
  • Ensure team members are supporting sales opportunities and proactively driving to closure
  • Must reside in PST/MST
  • Up to 50% travel
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity solutions engineering, sales engineering, or security architecture roles
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams
  • Proven experience in a VAR, systems integrator, MSP, or channel partner environment strongly preferred
  • Deep working knowledge across multiple security domains: network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP), identity management, endpoint protection, SIEM/SOAR, and security operations
  • Demonstrated success supporting enterprise‑level sales cycles and complex, multi‑vendor solution design
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, CMMC, PCI‑DSS, HIPAA)
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or vendor‑specific certifications (e.g., PCNSE, NSE, CCIE Security) a plus
