Digital Signal Processing Dsp information

What is the difference between Digital Signal Processing Dsp vs Signal Processing Engineer?

AspectDigital Signal Processing DspSignal Processing Engineer
CredentialsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields; certifications in DSP toolsSimilar degrees; often same certifications; focus on practical application
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, tech companies, manufacturing, embedded systemsDesign firms, telecom, audio/video industries, R&D
Industry UsagePrimarily in electronics, telecommunications, audio processingBroader applications including radar, biomedical, multimedia

Digital Signal Processing Dsp focuses on the algorithms and implementation of digital signals, while Signal Processing Engineer applies these principles across various industries. Both roles require similar skills and education, but DSP is more specialized in algorithm development, whereas Signal Processing Engineers often work on system integration and application development.

Job description

Why Join Rincon Research Corporation (RRC)?

At Rincon Research Corporation, our primary business is innovating, developing, and fielding digital signal processing (DSP) products and services for the United States Defense and Intelligence Communities in support of national security.

Rincon Research Corporation seeks a DSP Engineer to create cutting edge solutions to challenging national security and defense signal processing, geolocation, and communication problems. You will work in a multi-disciplinary R&D environment with similarly skilled and motivated electrical engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists/engineers in a highly rewarding personal and professional environment.

Come join the team that is creating cutting edge signal processing, geolocation, and communication systems for the future!

What are the primary responsibilities in the Sr. DSP Engineer position?

Core responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of digital signal processing systems for communication signals, radar signals, and other applications. This includes developing, deploying, maintaining, and testing software-based solutions. System development can include algorithm design, data analysis, hardware control, computational optimization, RF system modeling, field testing, error budget analysis, operational performance analysis, writing efficient software, testing with real data, and providing applications to front-line customer facilities. A key responsibility is staying up-to-date with the signal processing technologies, tools, and methodologies and experimenting with new technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into RRC projects. RRC personnel can expect to work across all functional areas: systems engineering, development, integration and test, deployment and O&M, and experience the direct mission feedback from the customer and seeing your project provide real-world contributions that make a significant difference. Youโ€™re encouraged and expected to propose things that you believe will improve the applications and frameworks youโ€™re working in. The ability to work unsupervised with minimal direction and the ability to self-start is a must.

What required background will make you successful?

  • Degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or other equivalent field
  • At least 15 years' experience in a signal processing engineering-related discipline
  • Subject matter expert in DSP, including deep knowledge of DSP theory and a track record of successful system development
  • Experience as a project technical lead and/or principle investigator
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and providing technical advice to program management
  • Proficient in C++ and/or Python in LINUX environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Preferred background:

  • Cellular communications, satellite communications, modern modulation schemes, cyclostationary techniques
  • Geolocation, radar signal processing, RF propagation and link budgets, RF system design
  • DevOps and Cloud computing Experience (Gitlab, CI/CD, CVE mitigations, Docker, Kubernetes, PIP)
  • Experience as technical lead on proposal efforts
  • Current TS/SCI clearance

Where is the position located?

This position is located at our Tucson, AZ Headquarters. Remote work/telework is not available for this position.

What benefits does RRC offer?

  • 100% employer-paid premiums for family medical and dental insurance, employee life insurance, short-term and long-term disability (STD & LTD)
  • Flexible reimbursement spending accounts for medical expense and dependent care
  • Immediate participation and vesting in the companyโ€™s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401(k) Plan
  • Employer contributions to RRCโ€™s ESOP
  • Employer matching contributions to the companyโ€™s 401( k) Plan
  • Employer discretionary contributions to the companyโ€™s 401(k) Plan
