What is digital retouching?

Digital retouching is the process of enhancing or correcting images using computer software, most commonly for photography, advertising, or fashion. It involves tasks like removing blemishes, adjusting colors, smoothing skin, and refining overall image appearance to achieve a polished, professional look. Retouchers use tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom to make subtle or dramatic changes while maintaining the natural feel of the image. The goal is to improve the visual impact of the photograph without making it look unnaturally altered.
