The Opportunity

The Senior Safety Professional is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs across operational environments. This role provides expert-level guidance in the review of complex safety deliverables, supports regulatory compliance, and mentors’ junior safety staff. The Senior Safety Professional plays a critical role in conducting safety assessments, facilitating training programs, and overseeing field inspections and incident investigations. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to proactively identify risks, implement controls, and promote a culture of safety excellence.

What you will do?

  • Lead the creation, review, and implementation of safety plans, procedures, and technical deliverables.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and mentorship to junior safety professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in and lead high-level safety reviews, including those related to operational risk and complex processes.
  • Plan and deliver targeted training on safety practices, regulatory updates, and hazard mitigation.
  • Conduct and document site inspections, hazard assessments, and root cause analyses for incidents.
  • Identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce risks and enhance safety performance.
  • Collaborate with project teams, engineering, operations, and leadership to integrate safety into all phases of work.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in safety management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree or advanced safety/management education (preferred)
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive SHE experiences, with at least 3 years in a multi-site or regional management capacity
  • Strong knowledge of safety programs in industries such as manufacturing, construction, utilities, or services
  • Proven experience in training, audits, root cause analysis, and hazard control implementation
  • Experience implementing and supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred – Manufacturing Roles
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) – Required
  • Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) - Required
  • Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST) – Required (Manufacturing and Service Roles only)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification – Required
  • First Aid/CPR Certification – Required
  • Additional certifications such as ASP, CESCP or CIH – a plus
