Job description

At Stellantis, the Concept Data Development (CDD) group creates digitally all vehicle customer show surfaces on both interiors and exteriors, from concept to production. Digital modeling development is based in Catia 3D Experience but CDD has been expanding their software expertise to include Alias for advanced work in all areas. We are looking for talented digital modelers, able to conceptualize sketches and/or match digital, working closely with the Product Design Office (PDO) design staff daily. A broad understanding of the vehicle architecture in terms of knowing what is behind the surface and the requirements that drive design is preferred. Methodology is very important in terms of digital modeling.
The Senior Digital Modeler position utilizes their advanced technical knowledge, skills and ability to apply 3D scan/Alias data and/or 2D sketches to create Class A digital math utilizing the 3D Experience software. This position also applies advanced level data development to manage complex surface highlights and theoretical intersections to high-quality data sets in an efficient manner. The Senior Digital Modeler position has a complete understanding of Bezier features as well as parametric modeling techniques and applies this advanced technical knowledge to develop math data for mock builds, production release level data and advanced design support for 3D presentations. This position also has a high level of knowledge regarding design process and manufacturing requirements. This individual has the ability to work in a team environment or as a single contributor on any given assignment in CDD.
The Senior Digital Modeler is responsible for advanced data creation from sketch and verbal direction from studio design staff, with limited supervisory director. This role is responsible for the development of production quality data for final release tooling release projects as well as the ability to create quick overall proportion models depending on the project. The Senior Digital Modeler will lead advanced interaction with studio design staff and engineering team and will serve as a key resource and advise and mentor others on the team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating HD visualization data set for leadership reviews and exterior and interior production releases.
CDD team members must have strong leadership and presentation skills. They must also be able to collaborate with Designers, Engineers, and Developers as they work on diverse programs and projects.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience in a Digital Modeling role with Class A surface development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry developing Class A Surface
  • Understanding of the overall CDD processes and procedures
  • An understanding of surface reflectivity, curvature continuity and surface development methodologies
  • Ability to create surface data independently, with limited support from supervisors and mentors
  • Excellent aesthetic sense and aptitude for sketch interpretation with problem solving regarding design intent and engineering requirements
  • Experience working creating Class A Surface using 3D Experience, Alias, CATIA V5
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office tools and G-Suite
