What is a digital marketing associate?

Digital marketing associates create and execute effective online marketing and advertising campaigns. Additional duties vary depending on the client, but often include implementing social media strategies, creating blog posts, and working as part of a team. Experience with search engine optimization (SEO) is a must to help a client’s website rank well on Google and other search engines. Digital marketing associates need strong business, communication, and marketing skills to succeed in this career. They also need a proven track record of successful results from SEO and social marketing campaigns.

What are some common challenges digital marketing associates face when managing multiple campaigns simultaneously?

Digital Marketing Associates often juggle multiple campaigns across various digital channels, which can lead to challenges in prioritization, time management, and maintaining consistent messaging. Balancing deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities—such as sudden changes in client goals or market trends—requires strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly analyze campaign performance data. Collaborating with designers, copywriters, and other marketing professionals is essential, so clear communication and teamwork are key to ensuring campaigns run smoothly and meet their objectives.

This role is a good fit for a paid-media marketer who enjoys working with data, trying new ideas, and using campaign results to recommend next steps. Experience with Walmart Connect or Wayfair is helpful but not required. We also welcome candidates with relevant experience in Amazon Advertising, Target Roundel, Instacart, paid search, paid social, agency campaign management, or other e-commerce advertising platforms.

You will work with the Growth Marketing, Sales, Merchandising, Content, and Supply Chain teams to help ensure our advertising supports product, promotional, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and improve Walmart Connect advertising campaigns
  • Support Wayfair advertising campaigns and other retail media or marketplace growth efforts
  • Organize campaigns around category priorities, product lifecycle stages, promotions, and business goals
  • Track campaign performance and identify trends, concerns, and opportunities to improve results
  • Review results across campaigns, products, categories, and product groups
  • Help manage advertising budgets and direct spending toward business priorities and stronger-performing campaigns
  • Turn campaign data into clear findings and recommended next steps
  • Help identify factors that affect performance, including advertising, content, pricing, promotions, inventory, and competition
  • Create and maintain reports that show how advertising supports sales and overall business results
  • Plan and run tests involving bids, audience targeting, creative content, product selection, and budgets
  • Work with Sales, Merchandising, Content, and Supply Chain teams to coordinate campaign priorities
  • Clearly share campaign results and recommendations with marketing leaders and business partners
  • Keep up with changes to Walmart Connect, Wayfair Advertising, and retail media
  • Find ways to improve campaign processes, reporting, and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, Communications, or a related field is preferred
  • At least two years of relevant experience in performance marketing, paid media, retail media, e-commerce, advertising, or campaign management
  • Experience managing or supporting campaigns on at least one paid-media, retail media, or e-commerce advertising platform
  • Understanding of common performance marketing measures, such as return on ad spend, conversion rate, cost per click, click-through rate, and sales
  • Experience using Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools to organize and review campaign data
  • Ability to analyze information and solve problems
  • Ability to explain data and campaign results and recommend clear next steps
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage several priorities and work with teams across the company
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is helpful but not required:

  • Experience with Walmart Connect or Wayfair Advertising
  • Experience with Amazon Advertising, Target Roundel, Instacart, or another retail media network
  • Experience managing campaigns for a large number of products
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
  • Experience with Skai or another retail media management platform
  • Experience with e-commerce or marketplace advertising
  • Experience in mattresses, furniture, home furnishings, durable goods, or another product-based retail category
  • Experience working with sales, merchandising, content, supply chain, or e-commerce teams
  • Familiarity with analyzing the performance of individual products and stock-keeping units
