Summary:
St. Ambrose Catholic School seeks a key member to the school's instructional team. The Part-Time Library Manager is responsible for the daily operation and management of the school library, serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. The Library Manager fosters a welcoming environment that encourages literacy, lifelong learning, information literacy, and a love of reading while supporting the academic mission and Catholic identity of the school. This position collaborates with teachers to provide library resources that enhance classroom instruction and promotes responsible use of library materials and technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Library Management
  • Maintain an organized, attractive, and student-centered library.
  • Catalog, classify, circulate, and inventory library materials using the school's library management system.
  • Select, order, process, and maintain books and other instructional resources within the approved budget.
  • Repair and replace library materials as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate circulation records and prepare reports as requested.

Instructional Support
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum and instructional goals.
  • Assist students in locating and evaluating age-appropriate print and digital resources.
  • Provide instruction in library skills, research strategies, digital citizenship, and information literacy as appropriate.
  • Promote reading through book talks, displays, reading challenges, author studies, and other literacy initiatives.

Student Services
  • Create a welcoming environment that encourages independent reading and inquiry.
  • Foster responsible library use and appropriate student behavior.
  • Assist students in selecting books that match their interests and reading levels.

Technology and Resources
  • Support the use of educational technology and digital library resources.
