OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Digital Journalist you will join the team behind LiveNOW from FOX, FOX TV Stations' national live streaming news channel. LiveNOW brings viewers the most relevant and engaging live news coverage occurring right now across the country and the world. We are a team of passionate content creators seamlessly moving between the biggest live events and stories as they happen to keep our viewers informed. LiveNOW is always raw, live and unfiltered, with limited commentary and no opinion. Our Digital Journalists watch with viewers as breaking news unfolds, leveraging the latest newsroom technologies to help the audience understand what is occurring and answering their questions.

Reporting to the Executive Producer you will curate, produce, and host live coverage of breaking news and important events as they happen. You will be responsible for giving our audience an in-the-moment view of what's going on right now. This position is based in LiveNOW's east coast newsroom at FOX 35 Orlando and will be an overnight shift.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather, produce, and present original content live for breaking news and major news events, on digital, social, streaming and broadcast platforms nationwide.
  • Simultaneously manage content and live video production, including video switching and graphics.
  • Monitor live video feeds, newsgathering tools and social media for the latest information and content.
  • Maintain constant communication with FOX O&O stations as well as other internal and external partners to coordinate receiving video and new information.
  • Stay up-to-date on news and current events.
  • Pitch story ideas and contribute to the editorial process while adhering to journalistic standards
  • Assist in editorial planning and monitor real-time analytics.
  • Support other Digital Journalists in producing content.
  • Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • At least 3 years of experience reporting and hosting live news coverage.
  • BA/BS degree preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of current events with a deep understanding of how viewers are consuming news in this media landscape.
  • Excellent live communicator with the ability to host continuous coverage over extended periods of time.
  • Proven ability to guide viewers through live breaking news and major events happening around the world in an easy-to-follow manner.
  • Great research skills and editorial judgment with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced breaking news environment.
  • Familiarity and curiosity for newsroom technologies (TriCaster).
  • Understanding of digital production and live video workflows.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $90,000.00-95,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
