Job description

Essential Functions
Provide advanced microscopy and specialized histology imaging support, baseline informatics/ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) accession duties to support lab operations. The position performs whole slide imaging (WSI) activities, including general and specialized microscopy, scanner operation, post-scanning quality checking, data entry, storage and archival. Responsibilities will also include interaction with scanning vendors and troubleshooting software operation/ hardware issues, as necessary.
Physical Effort
โ€ข Image acquisition: Operate manual and motorized/ automated digital light and fluorescence
microscopy systems. Understand and apply/ modify automation routines for focus acquisition,
background and signal-to-noise optimization.
โ€ข Provide microtomy feedback and overall specimen quality reports to histology operations.
โ€ข Perform quality assurance evaluations on scanned images, ensure diagnostic and analysis quality
and data de-identification when appropriate
โ€ข Upload/archival of the slide images into various LIMS repository as required in the lab workflow
protocol and/or project
โ€ข Collect and organize experimental data associated with scanning projects (Basic grouping, Assist
with research activities - manuscript generation, data input, algorithms
โ€ข Prepare and analyze data metrics related to imaging system reliability, overall data storage
usage, and predictive/ anticipation of data archival tasks
โ€ข Perform routine maintenance, alignments, and calibrations on hardware to ensure system
functionality and regulatory compliance
โ€ข Serve as primary resource for equipment knowledge, troubleshooting and data information
regarding the imaging system and pathology workflow software.
โ€ข Attention to detail, accurate, precise, and dependable performance of techniques and
organization is critical to interpretation and experimental conclusions.
