Digital Imaging Analyst Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Description This is a highly technical and sensitive position which will be responsible for the collection, examination, preservation, documentation, and analysis of digital evidence in criminal investigations by the MCSO. This position requires the individual to be qualified to perform forensic analysis on computer and mobile devices. This will include conducting forensic field triage involving previewing and/or imaging of digital evidence outside of the MCSO digital evidence labs and maintaining mobile forensic computer lab equipment for criminal investigation activities.

Will be required to provide courtroom testimony as necessary and perform other duties as required. Examples of Duties Duties: Spend at least 65 percent of time performing duties that involve the collection, examination, preservation, documentation, preparation, or analysis of human tissues or fluids or physical evidence having potential biological, chemical, or radiological hazard or contamination, or use chemicals, processes, or materials that may have carcinogenic or health-damaging properties in the analysis of such evidence. A.

Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics." B. Thoroughly know, understand, and comply with Agency procedures, rules, and regulations. C

Thoroughly know, understand, and comply with Florida State Statutes pertaining to the collection of digital media and other documentation related to digital media. D. Ability to work with media depicting the sadistic and violent sexual abuse of infants, toddlers, prepubescent, and older children.

E. The primary duties and responsibilities of a Marion County Sheriff Office Digital Forensic Technician will involve the collection, examination, preservation, documentation, preparation, storage and/or handling of devices and evidence that could contain or be exposed to blood, human decomposition, hepatitis HIV/AIDS and other bodily fluids. F.

Assess crime scenes, both physical and digital, and assist with the execution of search warrants at physical locations and on digital assets. G. Provides analysis of forensically recovered digital evidence for criminal investigations.

H. Develop and maintain the contacts with the internet service providers (ISP) and cellular provider to facilitate the timely compliance of subpoenas and court orders related to active criminal cases. I.

Thoroughly understand and practice proper evidence collection and preservation techniques to maintain evidence chain of custody. J. Will be exposed to sensitive and potentially disturbing images and video related to major case investigations.

K. Provides investigative support on criminal cases as directed by the supervisor. L.

Responsible for conducting forensic field triage involving previewing and/or imaging of digital evidence stored on computer systems or disks outside of the MCSO Digital Lab. M. Identify, collect, inventory, and store evidentiary items in a secure manner.

N. Write or type clear, legible, complete, and accurate reports, logs and other records relating to the collection of digital evidence through forensic examinations. O.

Procures, maintains, utilizes, and validates forensic digital imaging and forensic previewing hardware and software. P. Maintains mobile forensic computer equipment for execution of search warrants and other criminal investigation activities.

Q. Researches, develops, and consults on published and non-published forensic procedures of on- scene and in-house lab digital evidence processing. R.

Develops and maintains technical standards, procedures, and techniques for the guidance of agency personnel engaged in cybercrime investigations and digital forensics. S. May be requested or subpoenaed to testify in criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings.

T. Attends case or staff meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills. U.

Performs administrative functions such as recording statistical information, compiling reports, and spreadsheets, performing specialized studies, coordinating with other agencies or the public, and maintains dissemination logs and forms. V. Performs routine office tasks, such as typing, filing, faxing, phoning, and copying.

W. Receive telephone calls and visitors and assist the public with information, as necessary. X.

Maintains a comprehensive library of hardware and software technical publications in support of computer systems operations. Y. Conducts trainings for agency or other personnel on digital evidence.

Z. Assists with traveler operations, specific to on-site camera surveillance and forensic needs. AA.

Provides forensic analysis of vehicle infotainment and telematics systems. BB. Provides forensic analysis of video evidence.

CC. Overtime work may be required due to the time sensitive nature of the work performed. DD.

Ability to work with and maintain sensitive, confidential, or restricted information. EE. Perform other related duties, as assigned, including modified schedule or temporary re-assignment during declared emergency or activations, as determined by the Sheriff.

Typical Qualifications JOB PREREQUISITES - (Digital Forensic Technician I): Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: A. Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from a college or university and two years of work experience in computer operations, computer forensics systems analysis and/or computer programming. Relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute for formal education.

B. Maintain a working knowledge of all inter-Agency divisions and their functions as they relate to the overall objectives of the Marion County Sheriff's Office. C.

Be able to foster cooperation between Agency personnel, particularly regarding the digital forensic arena, and be able to create an acceptable attitude among all employees toward accreditation and staff inspections. D. Successfully complete the computer and digital forensic training required to achieve a high level of expertise in the digital forensic field.

E. Maintain proficiency in the field of computer and mobile forensics and data recovery. F.

Maintain records and chain of custody regarding electronic hardware and media. G. Demonstrate proficiency in the preparation of detailed and accurate reports that document the collection, analysis and preservation of digital evidence.

H. Maintain a current, valid Florida driver license. Supplemental Information ADA PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

See and hear at normal range. Requires the ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time, the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to (10) pounds; routine keyboarding operations. Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

Ambulate independently. Lift/carry 50 pounds. Bend and squat.

Manual dexterity. WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor and outdoor environment, and employee may work extended and/or irregular hours. Position may occasionally travel to other locations within and outside County areas.

Position will come in contact with very sensitive material. Position may experience cross examination in court and other criminal hearings. Environmental hazards: The job requires inside and outside work; ability to tolerate inclement weather.
