Job description

Step into the dynamic and rewarding role of a Digital Film and Video Production Substitute Instructor at F.I.R.S.T. Institute, where you can share your passion and expertise with aspiring film and video professionals. While teaching experience is preferred, it is not a requirement; we seek an experienced film and video production professional to join our education team as an instructor! The ideal candidate will have experience in narrative film production, live video production, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, as your primary focus is instructing the next generation of video and film professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching film and video production and post-production concepts in a dynamic, engaging format
  • Inspiring and supporting students with a "hands-on" and active approach as they progress through the courses
  • Teaching practical hands-on methods for using cameras, grip and lighting equipment, and production audio hardware
  • Focusing on student creativity to achieve high-quality results with both group and independent video projects
  • Fine-tuning the curriculum as directed and contributing to the creation of engaging lesson plans
  • Creating a safe, supportive, creative, and dynamic environment for students

Recommended Requirements

  • Professional experience with Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects
  • Professional knowledge of Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve
  • Working knowledge of Blackmagic and RED digital cinema camera systems
  • Production experience related to lighting, cinematography, and field audio
  • Deep passion for mentorship and helping others of all learning types
  • Passionate about inspiring, mentoring, and helping others learn
  • Flexible schedule

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May work outdoors in varying weather conditions during class-related projects.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to physically access and navigate each department at our facility.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience Requirements:
  • 3+ years of related experience

Preferred Skills

  • Formal education in a related career field is preferred
  • Experience with live video production and streaming
  • Knowledge of story development and screenwriting
  • Experience with the Canvas LMS
  • Experience teaching in a live and online format
  • Demo reel or portfolio available upon request
