Job description

PEN CHECKER

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 Plus per hour

Wage is negotiable based on experience.

Additional pay:

●        Bonus pay

●        Overtime pay

Benefits:

Schedule:

●      10-hour shifts may vary depending on seasonal workload and other factors

●      Day shift

●       Weekends are required 

Pen Checkers

As a Pen Checker you proactively monitor our livestock. This involves saddling up daily to ride our pens to care for our cattle. Your keen eyes, skill and knowledge ensure the health of our herd. Day to day you make our animals wellbeing your top priority, making sure the care of our cattle is maintained to Grandview's high standards.

About the Job:

●       Checking pens daily to monitor cattle health, identifying ill or injured cattle.

●       Providing treatment to cattle according to veterinary protocols.

●        Maintaining daily digital computer records for cattle treatments and procedures.

●      Shipping, receiving, and processing cattle.

●      Operating equipment, including forklift, front end loader, and tractors etc.

●       Maintaining the feedlot and equipment, including repairing pens, and keeping all areas clean and tidy.

●       Pitching in where needed in various farm and feedlot duties.

 
Qualifications:

 ●        Previous experience working with cattle preferred.

●         Ability to operate farm equipment such as tractors and loaders (training can be provided).

●        Class 5 drivers license.

●        English speaking.

●        Education or background in agriculture or veterinary care is an asset.

●        Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.

●        Strong ability to ride a horse. 

●        Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
