What is a digit system?

Digit systems refer to the methods or schemes used to represent numbers using a set of symbols or digits. The most common digit systems include the decimal system (base 10), binary system (base 2), octal system (base 8), and hexadecimal system (base 16). Each system uses different numbers of digits and rules for representing values, and they are widely used in mathematics, computing, and digital electronics. Understanding digit systems is essential for fields like computer science and electrical engineering, where data representation and processing are foundational concepts.
